i imagine cos it didnt get bombed and destroyed like the rest of europe in ww2 and so lots of old city planning and roads are based around horses and carts and shit. Combined with the extremely incompetent retard bureacrats that run our government and the fact that the uks population is highly concentrated in certain areas and not spread out at all makes traffic really bad in a lot of the country. Where I live its relatively rural and not super populated but all the roads are super thin and can only fit one car on and have terrible visibility around corners so there are a lot of crashes all the time

Where I used to live the yanks wanted to build a bridge there to move troops around prior to ww2 and so even though a bridge could easily be built there the local gov wastes loads of money on a subsidised ferry thats slow as shit and terrible for economy. Even more recent plans to build a bridge have been stopped because it would "destroy the traditional beauty"
