"Chud" as an insult is toothless, sterile, and infantile. You might as well just call them 'subhuman'.
<1. Toothless and sterile
Insults are supposed to be scathing and derived from some aspect of reality that can emphasize a facet of the recipient's state of being, which can be used to belittle them. Examples:
>Whale/Cow/Pig
By themselves, these are innocuous words that describe certain animals within our world. When applied to an obese person, they juxtapose said person alongside said animals in an attempt to emphasize the obese person's obesity, which the insulting party considers to be something worthy of being shamed over.
<The N-word
Stupid ass word filters will make it more difficult to make my point, but basically the original word was derived from non-English language words for 'Black'. Therefore, the word by itself isn't necessarily offensive in concept, rather it's used to draw attention to the recipient's superficial genetic traits that the insulting party considers unpalatable.
In both cases, the words themselves do not directly reference an appalling concept, and are rather neutral without the added context of their usage and the intentions behind it.
<Shit/Piece of shit
Fecal matter is universally reviled, a waste product produced by the human body, whose mere presence is intolerable, an assault upon the senses. If a person is directly referred to as a 'piece of shit' then they're effectively being equated with waste.
<Chud
The etymology of the word, as everyone must know by now, is that it was derived from a film that was produced in the 1980s. The word itself is an acronym that stands for "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller". The problem with this word is that, unlike the previous examples, it requires a certain level of knowledge in order to be understood, while the other words, and their underlying insulting commentary, are very likely to be understood by virtually everyone upon hearing them. The only way a word can be effective as an insult is if the recipient is made aware of the word's etymology and understands its usage; Outside of terminally online types who are more likely to be steeped in pop culture, this word is very likely to be interpreted as vacuous and meaningless. Using 'chud' is akin to using a word from a language that is foreign to the recipient; it's filtered out and not interpreted at all.
<2. Infantile
Even if the recipient of the insult is made aware of the word's etymology and usage, the use of the word itself conveys a certain childishness or arrested development, because the user is opting for a word that is very likely not to be universally understood, which makes them appear as though they don't understand the point of insults in the first place, especially when there are a litany of more effective words one could command. If I have to explain the joke, then I'm wasting everyone's time; so, too, is it the case with insults.
<The likelihood of this word being recognized may have changed due to the insistence of its use by the terminally online; Despite any sort of spread, it's still largely an online phenomenon.
You can do whatever you want; Use the word, don't use the word, use the word to describe me, etc. However, it's a terrible insult that makes you look like a tool when you use it. The left needs to develop better insults, but leftists tend to have more empathy for marginalized groups and are quick to establish 'safe spaces' as havens for those affected, where 'trigger warnings' are issued prior to discussing anything of actual substance. Essentially, the propensity to infantilize people in this manner is an anathema to the crafting of useful and scathing insults, because insults by their very nature are designed to marginalize and disenfranchise, and the left is too afraid of stepping on the toes of who they consider to be victims to come up with anything truly hurtful. This mentality is what leads to toothless and infantile words like 'chud'.
Tell me why I'm wrong. You can't. This also applies to other internet vernacular, but I feel that 'chud' is a particularly good example of a worthless word.
