Any fiction/novel writers on here?

What are some things you had to research for your novel?

Some things I had to research:
>“Saul-to-Paul” political conversion memoirs such as Witness, School of Darkness, and Radical Son
>the Anti-Globalization Movement (including the Battle of Seattle)
>the Washington DC punk scene
>the anti-abortion movement of the 90s and 2000s
>the history of Neoconservatism
>the philosophy of Leo Strauss
>the “Green Scare” of the 2000s
>multiple stories from right-wing groups about women who regret their abortions
>different pregnancy complications that can kill the mother
>how the FBI targets and entraps activists, also snitches and informants in leftist groups

You?

i wouldnt call myself a fiction writer but i am working on a medieval fantsay world (very original i know) and ofc for that i had to research things about the medieval world, although most of the time its just a simple google search, are there any books that could help me understand the how the medieval world worked? cuz ive always been interested in it

I've been working on a story set in a quasi-egyptian world during the bronze age collapse. So I've been doing research on that.

Is it about the intergalactic British empire, hindu laser gods and space Irish carbombers?

>>791877
Kind of but it ended up being Greek gods instead because my woke friends said it was offensive to use the gods of a practiced religion as symbolism for fake, pathetic and evil bourgeois people.

>>791879
It makes sense if you're making a work criticising religion, greek gods are just a copt out from making an actual statement.

And they're pretty easy to potray as bad guys

>>791883
In a very empty way, however, pagans didn't worship their Gods the same way christians do. The Greeks viewed the gods as the physical incarnation of concepts, that could be good or evil in certain cases. They practiced cults in order to preserve the peace with them. Making them evil doesn't really say anything.

>>791881
Was diagnosed when I was 10 years old
>>791884
There is also obviously a criticism of the Abrahamic god. The thing of the Greek gods being not good or evil is the point, because some of the characters believe other characters are gods and some characters believe themselves to be gods. It's all a part of the rejection of the hero. I am taking a lot of inspiration from the Homeric Epics and the Aenid btw.

>>791899
The point is that it is all nonsense, all religion and idealistic thinking is nonsense which is used to distract from the class dynamics at play.

It's fiction, you don't have to research anything, just make things up.

everyones books sound like bangers

never have but every stupid online test puts me under borderline

insanity and thriller slop, would take me minutes to write down the entire thing without sounding like an autist final boss

tldr; all inspired by a dumb fantasy map i saw here 5 years ago

imagine a AI built with chatgpt codes around 2016 ..except the inventor is a rabid lolbertarian in a suburb basement. and basically made a GPT-1 replica when the project was still a prototype, gave it atlas shrugged as an asimov law.

its the same world but robotics have been invested into so much yet so loosely some steals schematics and basically build an AI. and feed it the fountain head, guy's a menace, not registered to the IRS, has hidden gold in his home. makes her and since he's a massive imageboards weeb, builds her with fenced parts from a US research base specializing in robotics.
trains its promts on only libertarian and ancap online talks even as it now walks

2021 comes along, it walks alive because by that point robots became more mainstream and both amazon and tesla have ones walking about with less decorations, even personal bots like it purchased by people.

it goes to private school despite being a robot because they use them as examples or to get tested on during STEM hands-on exams by humans, prefers attending economics and is pretenious about it.

political climate is ass, corona happened, masks hysteria and social distancing happened, jan 6 will happen and she's inside all of this

get bullied by students and other bots for edgy ancapism

leaves privateschool early one day in an unregistered lamborghini

relaxes by a macdonalds in the car, and begins the usual hustle of selling drugs and weed to highschoolers around 3PM because it doesn't believe in state laws on drugs.

gets caught by one very angry cop she used to sell to

tell him basically as he's cuffing it i got more drug bags in my ass

crushes his elbow with its sphincter than also bursts the plastic bags

goes on a rage on goes missing for 24 hours

returns home after crashing into the church of scientology mid rampage

the guy who made her's dying, shot by antifa home invaders

it hugs him

"don't bury me here, will ruin the estate price, when i die just throw me in the incinerator"

she does that, and is basically told by him you're an individual now. not tied to me, act like it

but the world gets even worse and fiction-like that its a miracle i write this and still go outside on grass touching.

bumping autistic thread

I am and I'm down to read and give critiques on anyone's writing if you're interested. I try to do as best I can 'for free' too.

>What are some things you had to research for your novel?

I've had so many story ideas I've researched and not written to list. I guess I have an interesting one. I was writing a story set in Paris during the 1867 World Expo involving events going on in Meiji-era(or actually pre-Meiji era, about the cusp Japan) but set in France during the Paris Expo where Japan made their first appearance. Lot of good ideas. I was going to have Toulouse Latrec and Van Gogh as characters and it all lined up with the real history perfectly. It was a great idea but I was really writing it for other people and it doesn't truly speak to me personally, maybe I should still right it someday. Oh yeah, I contacted this guy who had all these scans of lithographs from that expo for some reason I couldn't find elsewhere online and he wrote back to me.

Oh yeah, and I even bought a Harvard Press book on Tokugawa-Western relations because that's how surious I was. I was writing it as a screenplay and I used to post on this forum which was the premier forum for Hollywood sceenwriters, I was posting with all these dudes who get paid (mid, low, high) six-figures for a screenplay, but I will tell you, the prevailing opinion in that millieu is: "Facts be damned, just write any rewrite of actual history to make a compelling story!" Even like talking about serious historical dramas or biopics or whatever. Always makes me laugh when people talk about "soft-disclosure" or whatever. Bruh Hollywood screenwriters are as low-brow as the people who watch that shlock. They don't care about anything but titillating you. There is no rhyme or reason to their choices other than to pander to the prevailing tropes of the era which they're trying to sell their work.
