A neighborhood cat that I had known since she was a kitten brought her own kitten to me one day. It was horribly ill, I figured it may or may not live through the night but ultimately decided to let t live or die on its own thinking it had a good chance at recovering. I was wrong, the next day I found it dead and I felt shitty over it. I feel like it's a lesson I keep learning and relearning the hard way every time I forget it.
Unless you act quickly and decisively things will continue to get worse. If you've acted and things still got worse you did NOT go far enough fast enough. Simple as.
