I don't find them creepy but I do see the creepiness factor there. then again, I once walked home in the dark through a graveyard and it freaked me out, but I'm just an easily scared neurotic mess so don't mind me. no I do not advocate for arachnophobia mode.

to me the fear comes from the fact that there are many recogniseable features in there yet none of them feel right. for example, you take certain features of a normal office, like the walls, objects, lights, doors, and you assemble them in a waythat doesnt feel human at all.
the backrooms are these massive infinite spaces that exist for no known reason, its fear of the unknown

i'm way more scared when I'm in nature unarmed with a loved one, because I'm afraid I'll be attacked by a wild animal, or murdered by a random human. This scene is actually more scary to me than most night time jumpscare slop
