it seems like we're on the onramp to a very drastic change very very soon. political instability, unwinnable wars, market chaos, gigacorps, tech that has complete moral ambiguity. a massive underclass developing, the opoid "crisis", the collapse of meaningful cultural distinction, and a veneer of utopia (a shoddy paint job).
i think we're going to unironically end up in some soykafty cyberpunk world. i heard a podcast the other day say "a world covered in datacentres" without the slightest sense of irony, cynicism, doubt, or really anything negative. i don't find trouble in that personally but it is beginning to feel like we're walking right into the hyperstition people often say they fear.
i think it is inevitable at this moment: the powers that be have decided this is where we're going. i don't think we get a say, so i choose to learn to live in it instead of being cannon fodder for a lost cause.

Accelerationism is dumb death cult and there isn't any guarantees that it even works in practise. The most likely scenario is that the accelerationists just strengthen the thing they hate. It makes more sense to directly oppose the things that are ruining the World. The most important thing is to made it public and tell as many as you can what's happening. The only sensible alternative is to live in a woods or start a commune with friends.

>>795288Objectively false. The existence of powerful ai tools is already making it possible for individuals of mediocre skills able to do things like hack government systems. It is only a matter of time before this ramps up harder. To be clear: very soon, people will be able to make impacts at-scale. The capabilities currently mostly exist, but the moment hasn't arrived where they are forcefully utilized to cause massive problems.
i like to focus on the bright side of things. one thing i am looking forward to when things get really bad is there's going to be so much crime and so many people in jails that they won't have room to jail people for petty crimes because they need to make room for all the murderers and whatnot, so going to jail won't really be a big deal anymore, you'll most likely be right back out on the street in no time and you won't even have to worry about it hurting your chances of getting a job because there are no jobs anyway.
