buddhist monks are shut ins and they seem to be doing just fine. why can't I just join a commune of monks and bee NEET forever? even if they have me doing chores or whatever, at least my housing and food situation are taken care of and I can just treat the chores the same way I do now; I get good boy points for contributing to the household and I just have to spend the rest of my days meditating.

because we live in a broken society wherein the amount of money I'd earn doing doordash would be such a pittance that I wouldn't be able to have a self sufficient independent lifestyle in exchange for my contributions to said society, so society can fucking burn for all I care. yes, I know I'm a financial burden on my family, but it's not like I'm asking to stay here. what could I do if they told me to get the fuck out tomorrow? I'd just have to deal with those cards. besides, I may not contribute financially, but that doesn't mean that I don't contribute at all.

Can you get a seasonal job that lasts a few months? Maybe you could collect unemployment after you get layed off. Then just continue doing that for a bit.
