the most surprising thing for me going in those circles (not just online btw) is how everyone virtue signal how much of an anti-communist they are and the death of the URSS is the best thing that happened in the last 40 years,and you get MORE respected if you make everyone think you believe it.

Because political alignment nowadays is fundamentally decided by personality type: open minded, agreeable, ambiently neurotic leftists/libs and closed minded, disagreeable, paranoid-neurotic rightoids.
