Anti-immigrant sentiment is a result of the proletariat blaming immigrants for wage drops instead of recognizing it as a systemic problem created by capiitalists. It's a sign of very weak class-consciousness. The silver lining in this is that it can be fixed, but a lack of proletarianization to begin with cannot be fixed without a revolution taking place first.
