Do any of anons use chatgpt or other LLMs? I use it occasionally when writing emails to make it sound better.
I don't use any and I have uBlock set up to hide AI answers in DDG/Google.
Currently using Fable 5 in my coding pet project and gemini for anything else like searching info.
No and I will judge you harshly if you use them yourself.
Its kinda dumb not to use the best tools available but its not my loss.
>>802406I don't like AI, it's fucking stupid. AI apologists are just pining for a timeline with actual AI and don't want to admit that what we have is a novelty at best. No, I don't use it, though I have used it before, mostly to see what it says. It's dumb, and only got marginally more intelligent once it was given internet access with which to fish for answers I could've found my-fucking-self.
>>802419What does Emacs have to do with this thread?
Interesting that this place is anti AI passionately but they’re all pro-racist jokes
Nope. AI is more likely to be supported by conservatives
i have a low paying office job so ofc im gonna use the slop machine for it
>>802438lol faggot
>>802420>I could've found my-fucking-self.all the search engines gutted themselves to force you to use ai
>>802441>all the search engines gutted themselves to force you to use aiReally? I still use the search box.
>lol faggotYou would go apeshit if a right winger said this to an LGBT person
Nah, I tinkered with Kimi during it's prime, at the time when it was the top one, and they've all fallen off since, weren't even that good to begin with.
>>802444>Really? I still use the search box.Stop being an ipad baby and learn to use your bookmarks.
>>802449>iPad baby>use bookmarksYou know that iPad babies are more likely to use bookmarks, right?
Also, why use bookmarks when I could make PDFs of webpages I like?
>>802452>You know that iPad babies are more likely to use bookmarks, right?I'm telling you to develop tech literacy and stop relying on cloud services for web navigation.
>why use bookmarks when I could make PDFs of webpages I likeTo be able to pull up up-to-date version of indexes you use to find other pages. If you know a page won't change for a while then yeah save a copy.
>>802456>I'm telling you to develop tech literacy and stop relying on cloud services for web navigation.Name one person who doesn’t rely on cloud services for navigating.
I was also referring to the search bar, not the AI assistant.
>>802406Why use LLMs for writing emails though?
There’s so much better ways to use AI
>>802459I never mentioned gen alpha. Ipad babies are millenials to zoomers. Gen alpha has juul pods and phones.
>>802458>Name one person who doesn’t rely on cloud services for navigating.>I was also referring to the search bar, not the AI assistant.Again, learn to use your bookmarks. Search engines should merely be a shortcut, not your only access.
>>802420>>802449>>802452>you need to use your computer/smartphone in the most tedious way possible to satisfy my irrelevant autistic nitpicksSorry but I actually have a life.
I use ChatGPT everyday. I mostly use it for personal projects, like brainstorming for a video game I'm designing and creating a mod for a different game. Also for academics, I use it to come up with topics to write about, revise my writing, and to research topics.
>>802495What does it feel like being a retard?
>>802497>le heckin clankerinosAnti AI people are retards who used a free model years ago and assume AI is still at that level.
>>802498show us some of the useful replies you've got from it then.
>>802500Yeah I'll just dump my entire ChatGPT log to disprove that you're retarded.
>>802495>>802498being performatively anti-AI (in a bluesky manner where you treat using it like a sin) is cringe but i hope the bubble pops so i can afford electronics again. also you do sound stupid if you use it for all that
>>802498Obviously it is about the "level" of AI, there could be no other objections. There is no alternative.
I used Deepseek, mostly to brainstorm ideas, or as a search engine when ducktogo and google fail. Tried to get it to write cover letters, but it makes them sound way too formulaic. I heard Claude is better for that, will have to give it a try.
>>802503Anti-AI people are so retarded.
When I say I use it to research for papers, I mean I use it to locate and triage sources that I then read myself to determine if its applicable to my needs. It's not like I'm just pasting hallucinated shit into my papers. Courses at my university literally encourage us to use AI like this. The alternative is just opening Google Scholar hoping the research I need is titled in a way that is easy to find. Why would I spend 30 minutes skimming Google Scholar when I can just ask ChatGPT to do it for me?
It would've taken me forever to locate refugee camp crime statistics buried on the UN's websites, or info on global gun ownership rates without AI. It took maybe 5 minutes using it.
Similarly, the more you use AI, the more it learns about your preferences so it becomes really good at suggesting topics for papers. I would've never thought to write about Indonesia's terrorist deradicalization policy, or the different lived experiences of Burmese refugees in Malaysia and Bangladesh without it.
But yeah AI is bad because you used ChatGPT back in 2023 once.
I use it to find cope relating to my insecurities
