Though using "you" to mean both plural and singular could be confusing, it isn't that bad. In the native language of Britain, Cymraeg, there is both a singular 'you' and a plural 'you'. But the plural 'you' can also be singular in order to be polite or official, so it things are only a little easier.
English might be a coloniser language but I will say it is actually a pretty good one. No grammatical gender, no annoying things like mutations (I love them but they make things so much harder if you're not fluent), and it is very easy to speak English and be intelligible even if you know very little, due to the simple structure. Though I do think Cymraeg actually allows for an easier structure since you can put things in either order.
