Second best Nolan film after Interstellar (I just like its cool space scenes) and in front of Oppenheimer which is number 3. My least favourites are Tenet and Inception because they are pointless and boring.

Interstellar is a pretty good example of a Nolan movie that was overall pretty good, but utterly ruined by some dumb shit because Nolan couldn't pick a theme and stick with it. It was never a hard sci-fi movie, it was always about the power of love and family. But if I squint I can ignore that idealistic crap and enjoy the cool sci-fi parts (which are the coolest sci-fi parts in modern cinema).

for those who are obsessive about historical accuracy of costumes and sets (and not just skin colors which is all chuds care about), I wish Eggers would do something besides horror movies because he seems to have the biggest horse in that race of any of the mainstream directors right now.

Orange and teal was a thing long before Drive. I learned about it in media studies before that movie even came out.

As bad as orange and teal is/was, it's NOWHERE near as bad as the shit they do nowadays where nearly every shot in something like House of the Dragon looks like some shitty day for night filter. It will be a perfectly clear sunny day but the lighting is like they're in the Arctic circle or something

Well, there's fretting over every little detail.
Then there's not caring about the little details, but being accurate in larger picture.
Then there's not giving a shit about accuracy at all.
Then there's being proud that you made it inaccurate.
Then there's demanding that everyone be inaccurate to fit inside of moral or political imperative.

The first two are what you want. The rest is bad. The last needs to die and never come back.

This isn't really a political thing either. Lefties/radlibs do it more for the simple virtue of there being more leftist/radlibs in creative media, but the right is no less guilty if not considerably more guilty. Radlibs will do annoying shit like insisting on raceswapping bullshit, but the right does far more egregious shit like wanting people to ignore the history of slavery.

Case in point: I've yet to see a lefty or radlib produce something as egregious as The Patriot.

But all this shit is bad. You should care about historical accuracy and authenticity and making a historical film as accurate and authentic as reasonably possible. Hell, further than that, you should also make adaptations of other works as faithful to the source material as possible.
