I don't have friends but I think I'd do the same thing your friends did. Or maybe I'd let you say you're piece and then not offer anything in return. So yea I feel alienated too.

Everyone is in the same boat. I don't think true love is possible under capitalism, even if people are momentarily or periodically kind it will be constrained not necessarily out of selfishness but external factors since people are alienated from the means of production

but at least this one is attempting to relate to you. that's what a friendship is, you relate to other people. this dude 1. listened to your story when he didn't have to 2. is relaying something similar that happened to him so that you can feel some solidarity or whatever. of course, sometimes this can be interpreted as trying to "one up" the other person, like suffering or mere existence is a dick measuring contest, but assuming he doesn't mean it like that, then this is the sort of engagement you want, no?

quite possibly the worst thing to happen, honestly. acknowledgement requires effort, and this person couldn't even bother to do that.

all in all, you should keep a journal (or come and blogpost on /siberia/), because that's one way to get out your feelings without having to have some meatbag there to listen and respond in the way that you want.
