The religious are idealists so they think that'll it all work out in the end even if they live in terrible circumstances because at least they'll be rewarded in the after life. Atheists realise how the world actually works and don't have any kids because there's really nothing to look forward to except work and more work to keep yourself alive. More or less.

Marriage is a social construct that is now a relic, even monks have the discipline of the commune,.even sheer enthusiasm doesn't cut it in something as idealistic as religion, marriage doesn't have the discipline of greater society to shun divorce and prod people in the direction of loyalty so people will just bail at the sign of any difficulty so you really have to figure out what you want from it.amd get it asap before the illusion is broken wether it be sex, children or material gain.
