You can find retreats in Europe or Thailand that are like 2k, but they don’t have the same medical capabilities. Tbh, you probably don’t need them anyway if you’re young and healthy, but I’m risk averse and didn’t want to end up the subject of a tabloid article describing how some high tourist jumped into traffic or ODed in their hotel room.
Also now that I think back, I had a few proper hallucinations while on it. I imagined one where a medical staff member brought me food. That was the most impactful because it was my first ever and I didn’t expect it. I’d never done any drugs prior. I also had a flashback to myself in high school being socially anxious (which is what brought me to get treatment), and a flashback to my childhood. The rest of my time high was just distorted hearing and waves in my vision. Nothing the hallucinations revealed to me was all that surprising, but in context it felt super impactful and brought into perspective how meaningful my life is to me. I really think psychedelics is the future mental health treatment. It felt like I got nearly a decade of therapy over the span of those few days.
