a lot of the vitriol that people express against pedophiles stems from the belief that all pedophiles represent a pressing and imminent danger to children.
this belief, however, is not actually supported by most evidence – the vast majority of pedophiles are not child-rapists, and the vast majority of child-rapists are not pedophiles.
the solution to child sexual abuse is not to otherize and ostracize pedophiles (which we know actually increases the likelihood for pedophiles to offend, as the social stigma discourages them from seeking out help), its to teach children about consent.
the whole situation is, of course, ironic, as a lot of the same right wing retards involved in pedo-panic are also opposed to sexual education, considering it a front for der groomers™

I'm considered exclusive, which is relatively rare. I experience it as quite rigid and unmalleable . Even after a decade of independent research, I still don't know why exactly I'm like this. Maybe it's because I had an abusive childhood, maybe it's because the only model of a normative relationship I absorbed was dysfunctional, maybe I'm permanently stuck in childhood at an emotional level for some reason, I don't know. Off the top of my head, Michael Seto, Ray Blanchard, and James Cantor. One of the more interesting studies I've read had something to do with kittens. Something along the lines of pedophiles' brains lighting up abnormally in response to infant animals, suggesting some sort of crosswiring between the "parental" center and the "attraction" center of the brain.

I have those things, and it's more than enough to prevent me from committing a felony. Besides, it's akin to murder or something. It's practically unthinkable to me. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but it's hard for me to wrap my mind around the "predator" mindset.
