What's the Marxist analysis on neets? Are they lumpenproletariat?
Would I be executed or put in a gulag in a revolution?
meow
You'll be given job training and meaningful employment end the resulting socialization will cure your neetdom
Sageru
specifically marxist analysis i don't care for, but here's my personal analysis: they reflect the sheer state of economic development we've reached. for all the whining and complaining about the economic tribulations of today, or all the obvious incentive to go "ohh, they're a failure of capitalism, they show how bad things have gotten" they in-fact show how good things have gotten. we didn't have as many NEETs in the past because it was not economically viable to support them, and parents and family and the state would all refuse to do so. now we're rich enough that we can allow people to subsist while actively doing nothing and not even pretending that they're ever going to do something. this reflects material development rather than regression, even if it creates a new challenge. (how to get these people to work etc when it is in fact perfectly possible and viable for them not to.)
it was not, in fact, a better world where such people would be press-ganged by starvation, their parents, and the state into becoming coal miners. it was a worse one. this is dispositionally hard to accept for the neurotic pessimists of the world who want their communism to come in the form of collapse rather than transcendence, but it's true. the world is going better than you think. this will be doubly hard to accept if you are a depressed NEET, but it's true.
>>818197This is only true for the first world. There are countries where being a neet is unviable.
>>818197We used to also have places for these people, church institutions, the university, and so on. The primacy of capitalism and the destruction of communal life has kind of removed all these spaces that society has developed for neurotypical men (large percentage of neets i would assume).
>>818198Yet there are third world neets. Although I imagine they either live in the less screwed up parts of the third world, come from relatively well off families or from smaller families. Or maybe they're dependent on transfer of money from relatives working in more developed countries.
>>818199non-neurotypical*
>>818195A lot of people don't like alienated wage-labor and will do as much as they can to avoid if it at all possible.
>>818218WHy do I have a feeling that video is staged for chinese social media?
>>818218Always knew I'm committing revolutionary praxis by being a welfare leech
t. imperial core neet
There are different categorizations of NEETs.
>The rich-kid
This person's life is financed by his family, it's that simple. He could work, but knows that he doesn't have to. This person, whose family has money, is allowed to live like any other typical cosmopolitan because he can still be a consumer, given his wealth. These people are often educated but listless or directionless, who have yet to find their 'calling' in life, or so they say.
>The downtrodden
This person has no economic opportunity because of the specific circumstances he finds himself in, and his life is financed by his family. This person doesn't get a premium lifestyle and subsists on whatever is available at the moment, ramen noodles and stale bread. This person may or may not spend a great deal of time indoors, consuming media and rotting away, or they may contribute to their household in non-fiscal ways, such as by doing the various household labor tasks that the working parties would otherwise be left to do without the NEET's presence.
>The memelord
This person is a variant of one of the two above designations; Either he's a rich-kid whose family furnishes his lifestyle, or he's a downtrodden who lives in his mother's basement. Regardless, he is motivated by consuming and identifying with internet culture to embrace NEETdom. He is the poster boy for the most self-centered parasitic treaterlite with which the term NEET is typically associated, and whose image is conjured by that association. He is lazy and irrational, a modern day disciple of Diogenes who views contribution to society as beneath him.
>The neurodivergent
This person may either be a rich-kid or downtrodden, but since he requires special care, he is simply unable to interface with society in a manner similar to his neurotypical comrades.
>The scam artist
This is either a rich-kid bourgeoisie who considers his operations to be spiritually or culturally meaningful, or a downtrodden lumpenprole who desperately wants to 'escape the rat race' through producing goods and services, to be sold to others and furnish his lifestyle. In today's perpetually online culture, these are content creators of all stripes. Hasan Piker is an example of a rich-kid bourgeoisie; Steven "Destiny" Bonnell II is an example of a downtrodden lumpenprole who successfully found his niche and garnered enough to live a petit-bourgeoisie lifestyle. These people often delude themselves into thinking that they're contributing to society via their contributions; after all, the produce meaningful commentary on social, cultural, and political issues, or provide entertainment for those working class proles who support them. This framing, in my view, is dishonest, because these people often do not have to deal with the same issues that working class people deal with; long working hours or a less-than-idea working schedule, unpalatable workplace culture, abusive coworkers or superiors, etc. as they, if anything, can be said to be self employed and thus control these aspects for themselves. You might say that these people answer to the platform upon which they distribute their content, but only as any other end user.
Ultimately, I sympathize the most with the downtrodden and the neurodivergent types, while the rest are varying levels of petit-bourgeoisie or lumpenprole. My personal opinion is that the people who want to work but who can't find meaningful employment often require assistance to which they do not have access, and any socialist or communist society would remedy their woes by offering that assistance in various ways. The lumpenprole/petit-bourgeoisie is he who wishes not to work, and such lifestyles should be discouraged.
>>818218If you're a neet failson leeching of your third world comprador parents are you based or cringe?
NEETs are what you get when the counterculture is crushed by the police state and kept isolated and distracted and pacified with videogames and internet and shit. in a better society they would be punks or hippies or beatniks or whatever, working easy part-time jobs or freelance gigs to earn the minimum amount of money to support themselves and spending the rest of their time doing creative or subversive things. but in authoritarian capitalist societies like the us or japan or china they are confined indoors to keep them out of society and then blamed for burdening society by not participating in it, even though they are not being allowed to participate in it because their way of participating in society is not acceptable, the only acceptable form of participation is total submission to the status quo with full-time career work and debt slavery and all surplus income spent on mindless consumption.
>>818225that is decidedly based; as always, context is everything
>>818220damn they did a good job on the makeup, hair, and nails for the NEET if it was staged.
>>818291edgiest post of the thread award.
