But as a matter of PR, Russia fucked it by starting an actual hot war and then not winning it immediately. If they'd taken Ukraine in a week nobody would care. Nobody cared about 2014! and psychologically, pro-Ukraine types basically skew normie and pro-Russia types are mentally ill contrarians, the worst of which are /leftypol/ers siding with Russia because - ultimately - it's the closest thing to Soviet aesthetics even though it's also responsible for blowing up the USSR in the first place.
