I do like that the spirit of tumblr has less of a chokehold on the left nowadays (and in fact seems to have infected the #soyright). I don't like that the ghost of /pol/ ("raped Epsteiniteslave") has appeared instead.

Although calling groypers "most raped goyslave" or whatever is sometimes funny because it's using their language against them. They spent so long hyping themselves up as the most badass based racist guys on the internet and now they're stuck with the Iran war so they have to complain that not castrating yourself for Israel is antisemitic. But the line between owning someone by their own logic and doing it unironically always evaporates eventually.

Just because something reports big numbers doesn't mean it isn't insular. Post-elon twitter is basically Facebook for millennials: well adjusted people don't use either, yet recluses consider them to be bastions of normalcy because they understand themselves to be othered from normalcy, and misinterpret that as everything they don't use that reports big numbers being "normie"

I'm trying to keep the word normie from semantically bleeding into the rest of what I'm saying by putting it in quotes but I don't think it's working.

Spread out across the web. From my experience talking with people out in brickspace, using centralized social media doesn't seem normal as one would intuit as someone that does use it. People find forums and stuff for thing they're interested in with like 20 other users, then don't find reason to stick around for any longer than that because they don't want to be a loser that spends all their time scrolling twitter or listening to self-help podcasts.

Even watching television doesn't seem like a "normie" activity anymore, streaming services destabilized that, then turned out to suck as much, so people just don't bother.
