The entire narrative of the book series is an intra-aristocratic battle of blood; Voldemort who seeks to preserve the pure-bloods, and so allying with the House of Slytherin, the most wealthy house. The "good guys" don't have a factional name or leader besides Dumbledore and Gryffindor. In the prequel, the battle of Dumbledore versus Gryndelwald is expressly the Alies versus the Axis - so the supremacist ideology of Voldemort is supposed to give obvious allusion to the Nazis. Hermione's "mudblood" status, or Snape's "half-blood" status shows how racial impurity is encoded into the honour system of Hogwarts, which seeks to elevate people on merit, rather than by birth. The Ministry of Magic is an intermediate antagonist, which denies the resurrection of Voldemort, sending in officials to regulate Hogwarts. It turns out that the Ministry has been infiltrated by Voldemort's goons, but the Ministry itself is not neutral. All in all, the private boarding school acts as a sort of New Jerusalem of talented individuals, resisting equally, the pure bloods, the bureaucracy and the muggles. Hogwarts does not even seek to save the muggles, so it is not a cause of worldly charity, but self-preserved revision of Wizardry.

I think the narrative can be obvious at times, but also complex.
