Honestly when I first heard someone call the XBox 360 retro, my first thought was relief knowing games from when I was growing up were gonna be well archived. Like it hadn't been long enough for all that much to become lost media, yet people were considering it in the same regard as NES and Gamecube stuff.

"retro" describes a modern product that was made to imitate products of the past. so like if you made a 2D pixel game in 2026 in the style of older 8-bit games from the 1980s, then that game would be retro.

retro doesn't refer to old things that are just old.
