imo being funny is all about breaking the rules and doing things that you're not really supposed to do. when i was growing up i was always really impressed by the kids in school who were sort of like the mischievious pranksters and weisenheimers. like for example there were these two kids i knew in high school who were sort of goofy-looking nerdy metalheads and one time they came to school with guns and trench coats and started killing everybody and then they killed themselves. most people didn't get it and didn't think it was funny but i thought it was a pretty good spoof.
