How do I find a creative outlet?
I have this nagging feeling that I should create some art or something, but I have always been a computer nerd so the arts are pretty foreign me. Back in school, art classes were always humiliating as I had zero talent and the teacher did not really teach anything. I can't sing or play any instrument and have no sense of rhythm. The last time I wrote anything longer than a shitpost was in school, which has been like a decade ago.
this post is art.
a lot of it is passion and desire and curiousity. maybe a bit of discipline but only if u wanna be a machine for whatever Capital is generating(arguably not artists more like specialized workers) . the first three feelings will carry you. if you dont think you wanna try something more physically specialized like digital/traditional art or music maybe you could start with video editing or image bashing? much less demanding physically. or maybe even writing? im kind of in a creative slump rn so not sure how to put ideas to paper
Art like most things is about practice and i think being "good with computers" already primes you for some areas of interest. Digital music/sound engineering is a rewarding if brutal option. Otherwise you could also look into writing and start regularly drafting short stories or fanfics.
If there really is nothing specific you want to create whatsoever, i think you should try playing some classic text adventures. They're kind of clunky compared to modern twine games, but i think a lot of it is getting used to the interface. More importantly the medium had evolved so far in the 90s already, that it was and still is the video game genre, where pure literary artistry is most visible.
i wish i could draw but i think its only possible at an early age where you can take advantage of your neuroplasticity
