Is the dogmatism and the cult of personality surrounding Marx and Engels what they wanted?
it's not even what stalin wanted. stalin was interviewed by the german journalist feuchtwanger in the 1930s. feuchtwanger said the cult of personality around stalin was embarassing to marxism internationally. stalin actually agreed and said it was a product of backwards russian peasant culture. he tried to limit celebrations of his own birthday, but the CPSU overrode him and forced the personality cult to continue against his will. looks like even the "vanguard party" isn't above "sorelian mythmaking"
