that story is silly because it reveals hemingway has never had to shop for babies or toddlers before. your whole family will send you clothes for the baby they don't fuckin fit, are too small, or too big, or the kid gets fussy and refuses to put it on. baby shoes that were never worn get sold all the time, especially when they are first manufatctured, before anyone has owned them.
