"upper middle class" are just the bourgeoisie. They think that, since they didn't get invited to Little Saint James that they're actually "middle class" and just like your average wage-worker.

The middle class is a made up bullshit term with very vague limits that could mean anywhere from labor aristocracy to the petty bourgeoisie, or even the bourgeoisie that isn't straight up oligarchs like >>825957 said. It doesn't matter if you own means of production or not, this is entirely based on vibes.
