Global life expectancy is about 73.8 years. If you are a human you can expect to live about 26,937 days. Even if you make it to 100 that is still only 36,500 days. I cannot stress how small that number is, in the grand scheme of things. Think of how fast a day goes by and how often you spent the entire day doing things you didn't want to do. You can't get that day back. You have to give yourself time to be human, even if it means pissing off and disappointing everyone around you who expects you to be their robot. There are people who quite literally work themselves to death. They will go months, sometimes even years, without allowing themselves a single luxury. I've known single moms who work 12 hours, come home and make dinner, do dishes, laundry, and trash, then go to bed without allowing themselves a single moment of enjoyment. If you are free, if you are not in prison, and you live in a relatively "developed" nation, there is no reason to voluntarily be a slave. Do not let them enslave you. Take back some of that time by any means necessary. Obviously you need to do something as a class, but if that level of organization is absent in your immediate locality, don't be afraid to just take back your life. Even if it means just pooping on the clock, or looking at your phone while your boss's back is turned, or by performing some small act of malicious noncompliance. Don't have slave morality. Don't think God is going to burn you in hell forever for the Sin of Sloth because you stole back some of your time from the Lord of Greed. Don't be like that. There is so little time you have on this Earth. And most of the final years will likely be spent in a body and brain that is broken down, weak, and dependent on others. So you owe it to yourself, while you are young, to actually enjoy life, and not just work, work, work like a good little slave. Don't let the people on this board fool you into thinking that you don't deserve to be human just because you haven't personally taken it upon yourself to be your country's Lenin, either. There's a man who really did work himself to death and rarely gave himself a break. And we are all thankful for that but most people are not built like that. Most people are not anthropomorphic embodiments of Revolutionary Communism, or Protestant Work Ethic, or Filial Piety.
I didn't know Stirner was a fan of Black Flag
>>828965Good post, but just as pernicious as work is getting tricked into spending all your time being mad about stuff, or seething with resentment at those who've done something, or indeed the unfair amount of effort it takes to do anything, instead of doing something yourself.
(Not in a "you're just jealous of business owners" way, in a "if you want to be a furry artist pick up a pencil instead of coming up with sour grapes excuses for why you wouldn't like it anyway", you only get to live once so do whatever the fuck it is you want to do instead of dying mad that you didn't.)
>>828965There are fewer days in a long life than there are seconds in a normal day.
If the days of our lives numbered the seconds in a day, we would live to be 60x60x24 days, or 86,400 days, or about 236.7 years….
