Where do you guys hang out aside from leftypol?
the niceboarde
A kuruminha é comunista?! Baseado
i'm in some random tiny discords but aside from that and some niche parts of twitter every "leftist community" is unbearably corny, idealist, naive and moralistic. this place is kind of unbearable too but for different reasons.
Grace contemplating suicide seeing this.
>>830320Nukechan is about as dead as you can get, and leftychan is a shithole. Getchan is the only decent alternative to this site.
bilibili
communities.win/c/TheDonald
bordiga.party
>>830366>Nukechan is about as dead as you can get>Getchan is the only decent alternativeIsn't GETchan only 10 people at this point
>>830652We are so fucked if getchan and nukechan are the best alternatives. We desperately need an actual forum. Libs have bluesky, rightoids have soyjak party, what do we have?
This line of posts is beyond epic tho
>>830665there's a million communist subreddits, and discords
>but heckin reddit, muh imageboard kkkvltre, muh not-soy crediterino with the other chvds who cares
>ummm discord glowsso does this place.
>uhhhh muh privacyhasn't existed in years.
>>830670"leftist culture" is a bigger problem than "reddit/imageboard culture" at this point. i dont ever again wanna post around people who call each other "comrade" with no self-awareness
>>830680If you did care you wouldnt spend time on internet.
>>830665>We desperately need an actual forum. Libs have bluesky, rightoids have soyjak party, what do we have?Erm, we have here?
On xitter and tiktok. I used to post on the sharty before i realized it was 20 guys posting 100 post a minute each.
>>830652Yeah but its 10 nice people, which is more than most places.
>>830823No that poster is entirely correct. Snowden revealed that the NSA can remotely turn on your phone or computer even if it's powered off. The only way to avoid intense personal surveillance is to disconnect entirely. Linux doesn't stop shit. VPNs don't stop shit. There are no solutions powerful enough to stop military or intelligence agencies or even the local police from fucking with your electronic devices. Therefore anyone claiming to want to defend your privacy who tells you anything other than "destroy all your devices and go live in the woods" is lying to you and should be called out for their bullshit.
>>830828I mean there's levels to things though, a locked door won't stop a superspy from getting in your house but it will probably stop most crackheads, the same applies to security, it's sensible to put up barriers as much as is reasonable.
>>830839>>830828Can someome post a tl;dr of bulletproof opsec tactics that involve going low tech
>>830840Touching grass maybe
>>830840just don't do anything
>>830353>every "leftist community" is unbearably corny, idealist, naive and moralistic. this place is kind of unbearable too but for different reasons.This. I'm just here because there's really no place else for me to go. Leftychan is a Hazoid shithole ran by even more questionable people than the mods here; GETChan is bascially dead outside of /leftytrash/ and its hard to have an actual discussion there.
>>830670>there's a million communist subreddits, and discordsWhat kind of subreddits? The ones taken over by the ACP or the MTW ones that'll ban you for questioning BadEmpanda and J. Sakai?
>>830665>We desperately need an actual forum. Libs have bluesky, rightoids have soyjak party, what do we have?Didn't there used to be a Leftypol forum years ago?
>>830166I've also been looking for other leftist spaces. This place is kinda dying. I tried reddit and twitter, but those are more frustrating than anything.
The only decent alternative I found was bordiga.party
leftypol had the potential to grow even further in the early 2020s and become the de-facto meeting point for all online leftists who dislike reddit and twitter culture. it completely lost that momentum to petty squabbles that ultimately had nothing to do with leftism and just kinda bad administrative decisions like making too many niche boards.
i've often wondered what it would take to make a community like this really work. peak leftypol in terms of activity was circa covid when things were sizzling, but then the energy dwindled steadily in the years that followed in a way that didn't happen in other communities. maybe it was the aforementioned mistakes, but maybe the /pol/ format is biased towards happenings, enthusiasm, and optimism.
people stick around on places like lefty twitter because it's kind of their main haunt even when nothing exciting is happening; twitter is still where they get their porn, their movie talk, their memes, etc. leftypol apparently can't fill that need as strongly, which means that during Darkest Reaction where leftist politics are dormant, most people see no particular reason to post here.
>>833010+ one thing i've always felt that has become more apparent over the years is that the seriousness that the main board aspires to is kind of at odds with imageboard culture. you can't create a low-effort thread over there but nothing regulates the quality of the discussion themselves, so people who want serious discussion will often end up frustrated instead of adjusting their expectations, and meanwhile the low-effort but still political threads spill over to /siberia/ which ends up overrun with the same kinds of discussions and grifters it's meant to be a refuge from and ultimately loses its character
>>833030I've always argued that leftypol just needs moderation. Shitposting should be banned and conversations aggressively moderated to remove people arguing in bad faith or just being a disruptive shithead. The point of an image board is discussion, and all these reactionary calls to maintain "board culture" is just shitheads trying to wreck that by having a place where they can be total assholes without consequences.
Either leftypol is a place to talk or its a toilet. Mods have repeatedly refused to make it the former, and so now it's the latter.
>>833047Reddit seems to be more your speed.
lemmygrad is what leftypol would be if it had strong, ballsy moderation and a lack of the cancer that is imageboard culture
*makes a third post in a row shilling lemmygrad.ml, just as a flex*
>>833050it's really not distinct in any way from reddit socialist subs which is why no one wants to use it
>>833050Then why don't you just stay there?
>>833062the average reddit socialist sub advocates for muh nordic countries, in lemmy you have pro mao and stalin chads as the regular userbase
>>833063To get the people that want to really have conversations into a place where its actually possible. Leftypol is increasingly becoming a containment site for leftcoms, trotskysts, soyteens, wreckers and disillusioned /pol/tards.
>>833064there's ml subs on reddit. you think people here dislike reddit because they're not the right kind of leftist but we actually dislike them because they're annoying.
>>833064>pro mao and stalin chadsSo campist retards
>>830454Its so much better after they banned sharty
>>833064>in lemmy you have pro mao and stalin chads as the regular userbaseI've seen how those subreddits are run and they're every much as bad as this place. I'll probably end up being banned for crossing some MTW mod and end up back here anyway.
this isn't "hanging out". this is being alone.
>>833320but what if that's the best you can hope for in our world?
