How does someone read about what's happening in the world and just go about there day like nothing happened? I oftentimes wish I were a psychopath. I see the genocide in gaza, I see nazis marching in the street waving flags, I see the us government boasting about public executions, I see my fellow workers advocating against their own interests, I see that the richest country in the world has people living on the street.
How do you see all this and just continue on like normal? I used to think "someone needs to do something" and get angry that nobody would take action but one man's actions cannot change this. It doesn't matter what I do I can't fix this world. That lack of control drives me insane.

there is a middle ground between being consumed by misery and turning your back on it. think about paramedics or homicide detectives and how they operate - they cannot allow themselves to be emotionally overwhelmed by the horror they witness, nor can they allow themselves to become indifferent to it - they have to operate somewhere in between.
