I never understood how Napoleon is RW ever made sense. He did some reactionary stuff (Haiti) but it was well within the norms of the time it would be like saying Stalin is actually a right-winger because he re-criminalized homosexuality while forgetting everything else that he did.

Leaving out the inconvenient little fact that every monarchy in Europe declared war on revolutionary France before he ever took command of the army. You can make the same argument against the Bolsheviks and Stalin. An international revolution needs a leader. Can't say you're wrong about the cult of personality though, but that's just what people tend to do when you find out an absolute madman is out here toppling monarchs left and right.

No. The countries we waged war at litteraly declared war on us first to destroy the reolution as it happenned.

If he was really revolutionary, the Holy Alliance would have had him killed. But he was a monarch, he was one of them, and so he could not have been killed. All of the Committee of Public Safety would have been killed during the revolutionary war though, if the royals got their hands on them. Napoleon was a slaver KING and he should only ever be remembered as those two things. Rightoids love him because he is the opposite of the popular revolution.

(Oliver Cromwell on the other hand was a revolutionary, and guess what? Cromwell rejected being a King).
