I've actually never had much problems with wasps and if they land on me, and I remain calm, they usually go about their own business after having groomed themselves on my skin. Now I don't really know why they would land on me and do that, but there must be something about me in regards to my scent. Anyway, the only stinger bug I've really had problems with was uh, Japanese hornets, now those stung me pretty hard and this happened because I accidentally stepped on their hive or something aaand I do believe that was the most I've suffered from insects that I remember.

Reminds me of Froissart's Chronicles in how how the count of Flanders was basically a bargaining piece of the cities and towns, they wanted him to marry an English princess so they could have a trade agreement with England. Wool was the big thing back then and these areas were where the textile trade flourished. So the population forces the count of Flanders to be imprisoned in a castle while they're going over the arrangements with England, and, wanting no part of this he tries to leave and escape to the King of France (his actual liege lord) .. which he does (his subjects ironically didn't want him to do this tho) but it really is telling how nobles themselves, especially this guy, weren't all that powerful to begin with.
