Should Marxists accept the “Black Egypt” theory?
It is my view that we should. The Panthers believed in a Black Ancient Egypt. There are numerous writings showing that early human civilizations in all of Africa were founded by Black people. This has been a staple of Afrocentrism and Black liberation and at the very least has served as an excellent tool of consciousness-building. Black people were the ones who built civilization, early technology, medicine, philosophy, and many other things. We need to centre this idea fully in our praxis.

With that said, ancient Egyptian civilisation was as African as the various civilisations in west Africa and Ethiopia, its connections to the ancient Mediterranean world of antiquity notwithstanding. Claims about ancient Egypt being le Mediterranean is just some dumb cope meant to distance ancient Egypt from African history despite its centre having always been situated in the African mainland. Funnily enough, it could equally be said that neither Ancient Rome or Ancient Greece were “European”, being instead “Mediterranean” on the account that they were often isolated from other European civilisations and treated the Celts, Germanics, Balts, proto-Slavs, and Iberians as peripheral to their civilisations.
