>>1321>What’s the point in being into esotericism and metaphysical understandings of reality if Marxism is inherently materialistic?its like learning the classics
>Would those two things, I dunno, contradict themselves greatly?no not necessarily. esp just "being into" them
its because the church was the center of knowledge for over a thousand years. so thats where all the people who knew how to write went. esotericism and metaphysics arent necessarily purely idealist theyre just kinda silly and incomplete understanding but still grasping at a certain truth just often in poetic or metaphorical words that whos cultural meaning is a bit lost in translation.
so just like marx studied hegel to extract the rational kernel, studying esotericism can help you study the origins of modern scientific understanding of the world from a philosophical perspective and give you a comprehensive grounding outside of baseless assumptions.
of course this is not important if you arent a theoretician, but pretty important if you are. most people dont know why they believe what they believe and cant justify it, especially most scientists just assume a sort of positivistic idealism and arent even aware of it, the same way most people, including conservatives, are liberals, or how fish dont know they are in water.
