>male does something perverted
>female angry
>female hits the male
I love anime but sometimes I wonder if one nuke wasn't enough.
>>25769you made this thread earlier and you were tols this isn't Japan specific.
Enlarge your culture.
>>25777america needs to be nuked because of jonny bravo, sorry i don't make the OP's rules.
honestly if uyghas just let shit slide instead of getting hangups over nothing we would be happier
>>25771>slapstick humorI know what slapstick humor is. The thing is, it needs to be funny.
>>25772>you're watching sitcomsComedy shows like Pop Team Epic are ironically much funnier, you see that kind of humor anywhere but sitcoms. Romcoms, harems, isekais, action shows, SoLs but not sitcoms.
>try Paranoia Agent or Madoka or something artsy like thatWell… yeah, I actually was going to watch them. Berserk too.
>why do all cartoons have grossout humor wtf??????????"Pervert punishment humor" is not a genre of humor, it's a cliche.
>>25775>this isn't Japan specificDoesn't make it a good joke. And it's way less often than in anime.
>>25776>It's not funny, but arousing.Well, that does explain everything.
>>25777>Johnny Bravo plagiarized anime, h*ly shit.Johnny Bravo had more to offer than this type of jokes.
>>25778>joshiraku doesn't have this problemThank you for your recommendation, anon.
>>25785 (me)
Also, is this kind of humor a shounen thing or does that apply to seinen as well? Maybe I should start watching Shoujo…
>>25791 (me)
Also, it isn't funny 'cause it shows the MC as a creep and the girl as an unlikeable asshole who beats people up at the slightest provocation.
>>25787NTA but that's not a reddit thing to say. This is precisely why slapstick in Looney Toons (mostly the newer ones) doesn't always work, sometimes its just random as shit or exaggerated. That being said, slapstick works best when it's either absurd beyond normalcy, or when the person on the receiving end of it does something to deserve it. The reason the
>1) male does something perverted>2) female angry>3) female hits the male Gets tiresome is usually because #1 isn't actually perverted. Like half the time its a girl falling crotch first onto a guy and then beating him for seeing her panties or something. When it's actually deserved, its usually funnier, and if it isn't done repeatedly in short succession. Naruto did have this but it was like one small portion of an episode in between dozens of episodes.
>>25785>I actually was going to watch them. >Berserk too.I'm sorry but the sheer contrast of what you're watching (or are planning to) is hilarious. Berserk is definitely good tho.
>Johnny Bravo had more to offer than this type of jokes. So do most anime, don't be obtuse, they're being sardonic for a joke.
>>25769 It's slapstick that got over-used in anime because it was a common cultural joke in Japan. Many, MANY anime have it, but older ones tended to have it less, as do good anime in general. DxD is a more modern harem-action show but also kept it to a minimum and even subverted it many times.
>>25794Good effort post, anon. I agree with pretty much everything you just said.
>picrelngl, that's actually kinda funny.
>It's slapstick that got over-used in animeIs it slapstick in general? 'Cause Chaplin still gives me a chuckle to this day.
>So do most anime, don't be obtuseI mean, in terms of jokes. It's Seth MacFarlane we're talking about.
>I'm sorry but the sheer contrast of what you're watching (or are planning to) is hilarious.Isn't Berserk artsy too? And I thought Madoka is pretty dark.
>>25799>Is it slapstick in general?I meant the specific slapstick you refer to in the OP. Chaplin is always a classic.
>I mean, in terms of jokes. That is what I meant as well
>It's Seth MacFarlane we're talking about. fair enough
>Isn't Berserk artsy too? It's artistically illustrated, but it doesn't try to be 'deep'. Also yeah no, Madoka has some dark stuff but Gut's story starts as a baby born from a hung corpse, it's not even comparable. See
>>1822 >>25807Oh yeah Berserk is brutal, it's only short of being a guro hentai because it lacks actually seen penises and shit like that. It's otherwise uncensored as hell, but it's also one of the few works I've seen pull this off without coming off as gratuitously violent or vulgar.
FMA is good but it's horror isn't visually Berserk level. (It doesn't have to be, but you get my point.)
>>25785>Well, that does explain everything.if you don't like fanservice you shouldn't watch anime, because that's the whole point. I wouldn't call it arousal, the point isn't to get your dick hard. the point is to have something that is visually pleasant to watch without really having to follow a story or even the dialogs. the sign of a well made anime is that you should be able to watch it without subtitles. it is like when you watch porn, not to masturbate, but because you don't have the energy to follow the more ideological type of media
>inb4 but what about anime with drama and stories and …that's just regular media that happens to be made in japan in an animated format. for example, I liked "sayonara zetsubou-sensei" but I wouldn't say it is anime in the same sense that "yosuga no sora" is anime
>inb4 but that's not what anime meansit is a more useful definition. if you want big boy media, actually good artistic form and such, you should be consuming real novels from real authors and real movies from real directors
>>25812>you don't like fanserviceI do but we're not talking about fanservice here.
>>inb4 but that's not what anime means>it is a more useful definition.Nah, not really, nobody actually uses the term in that definition. And if a definition isn't commonly used then it's a useless definition. We use language to communicate ideas, and if you use it only in a way you understand then you failed at communicating.
>>25813>We use language to communicateto describe reality*
it is basic semiotics
>>25814>to describe reality*No difference, if the understood meaning of a word does not match your meaning then you failed at describing reality to another person.
Why are we having this autistic argument? This is off-topic.
>>25823>reddit spacing to the maxPlease desist.
>do ypu guys assume anyone whom questiins established tropes is a "sheltered youngster"NTA but it's not assumption, it's just the general trend; Gen Z has the cultural knowledge and understanding of a goldfish for the majority of the generation.
>as the boomers you hate <Gotta bring up the boomers!
Projection. I have to wonder, are you Gen-Z to be this defensive about someone's feelings?
>Slapstick mixed eith nihilistic edgelord jokes amd positivity had been the norm of cartoons since the mid-2000s. It's been the norm since cartoons in the West were made, all the way back to the Oswald The Rabbit days. Anime started off as inspired by these before developing independently. Vid rel is 1930s Looney Tunes.
>>25822 NTA but true, at least nowadays.
>>25822>if you think anime humor is bad with gender relations, western humor is even worseNot saying that Western humor is any better but Western cartoons with bad humor are usually just just bad cartoons while anime with bad humor can still be pretty cool (FMA Brotherhood for example, pacing issues aside).
>>25833>Gen Z has the cultural knowledge and understanding of a goldfish for the majority of the generation.>for the majority of the generationThat's the issue right here. You hate zoomers but then you project post-9/11 zoomer stereotypes on early zoomers as well. Those generational wars are stupid in general, any classification of humans other than the Marxist one is reductionist and essentialist. Obviously the Marxian class analysis is vulnerable to essentialism too but it's a way more useful classification than boomers/zoomers/millenials.
>>25794>picrelHOLY SHIT, IS THAT KONEKO???
>>25837>You hate zoomers I don't hate them they're just annoying, like flies. Hatred would imply actually caring about them.
>but then you project post-9/11 zoomer stereotypes on early zoomers as well. Gonna be honest, most of them I've met, observed or heard of have been shallow cretins. I will make the clarification that I consider these "generations" as a purely American thing, however in general most youth 24 and under that I've seen around the world have been ignorant and lackluster, though admittedly outside burgerstan and the First World this is much less prevalent.
>a way more useful classification than boomers/zoomers/millenials fair enough
>HOLY SHIT, IS THAT KONEKO???You absolute casul, that's obviously Rossweisse.
>>25846>Gonna be honest, most of them I've met, observed or heard of have been shallow cretinsI tell you what: most people are shallow cretins. After all, boomers and Gen Xers watch Fox News and many millenials and zoomers are fucking woke liberals. There is no better generation, all of them are shit.
>You absolute casul, that's obviously RossweisseI haven't really progressed that far into DxD but thanks for the info. Dat ass.
>>25837 (me)
>any classification of humans other than the Marxist one is reductionist and essentialist>other than the Marxist oneWhy tf did I say this? The Marxist classification of humans absolutely can be essentialist if you're doing it wrong. Tankies do it all the damn time.

Reread a few chapters and its abysmal how bad it is.
