Look, I complain because I've seen better from anime, it's clearly a cliche forced into anime because the creators think people like this kind of stuff, not because they think it's funny. It's so formulaic and often out-of-character too.

I've seen so much of that humor that I'm used to it. It's not that I like it, but there are so many animes with that kind of comedy that one starts to not give it importance.

Gets tiresome is usually because #1 isn't actually perverted. Like half the time its a girl falling crotch first onto a guy and then beating him for seeing her panties or something. When it's actually deserved, its usually funnier, and if it isn't done repeatedly in short succession. Naruto did have this but it was like one small portion of an episode in between dozens of episodes.

It's slapstick that got over-used in anime because it was a common cultural joke in Japan. Many, MANY anime have it, but older ones tended to have it less, as do good anime in general. DxD is a more modern harem-action show but also kept it to a minimum and even subverted it many times.

Oh yeah Berserk is brutal, it's only short of being a guro hentai because it lacks actually seen penises and shit like that. It's otherwise uncensored as hell, but it's also one of the few works I've seen pull this off without coming off as gratuitously violent or vulgar.

FMA is good but it's horror isn't visually Berserk level. (It doesn't have to be, but you get my point.)

if you don't like fanservice you shouldn't watch anime, because that's the whole point. I wouldn't call it arousal, the point isn't to get your dick hard. the point is to have something that is visually pleasant to watch without really having to follow a story or even the dialogs. the sign of a well made anime is that you should be able to watch it without subtitles. it is like when you watch porn, not to masturbate, but because you don't have the energy to follow the more ideological type of media

that's just regular media that happens to be made in japan in an animated format. for example, I liked "sayonara zetsubou-sensei" but I wouldn't say it is anime in the same sense that "yosuga no sora" is anime

It's been the norm since cartoons in the West were made, all the way back to the Oswald The Rabbit days. Anime started off as inspired by these before developing independently. Vid rel is 1930s Looney Tunes.

Gonna be honest, most of them I've met, observed or heard of have been shallow cretins. I will make the clarification that I consider these "generations" as a purely American thing, however in general most youth 24 and under that I've seen around the world have been ignorant and lackluster, though admittedly outside burgerstan and the First World this is much less prevalent.

I haven't really progressed that far into DxD but thanks for the info. Dat ass.

Now that I think of it, 99% of anime that had that kind of humour are all shonen. Most seinen I encountered does precisely the opposite, being genuinely funny. There are exceptions of course but it seems like many shonen writers aren't able to write decent jokes at all. Also, I think I was too harsh on Araki-sensei: other than his toilet humour (which is occasionally funny too like that scene with Polnareff) the guy does write jokes that at least made me chuckle a lil' bit, no wonder why JoJo became such a meme.
