Newfags and people who just want to see colorful shitshows with fake tension because they have nothing to do.
Wait are you saying there is more after the Dragon Ball Super Tournament?!!!? fucking how? Goku's beaten literal gods at this point FFS.
There's no way older fans would be watching this truly awful devolution after Namek and Cell. Thus, they have to be small children. But I do find it a bit difficult to believe a small child would be able to get into this series without starting from the beginning.
>>2912>Who the hell is even the target audience for this cringeworthy shitshow
"people" like Jason Unruhe
Doesn't Jason still live with his mom?
Based on what I've seen on tiktok the Dragon Ball stuff is still really popular.
Dragon Ball stuff from From which Dragon Ball era?
Pretty much all of it.
People who like to enjoy things.
I haven't watched dragon ball for tension since I was a kid.
I watch it for the comedy.
No real dragon ball fan watches the show after the glorious Pilaf saga ended.
omg the moment when goku goes giant ape once again like when he killed gohan was just so perfect thematically. stupid toriyama and his cashgrabbniess ruined DB after that reeeee
Everybody watching after that saga are fake fans smh
Well there's certainly no comedy to be found so you must be mistaken.
I watched it to see how garbage it was… skipping around a lot of course and doing 2 other things at the same time.
>>2960>Well there's certainly no comedy
You're purposefully acting dense and ignoring the gags in the show because you do not like it.
Which is even more childish than my sense of humor
I could swear we already had a DBZ thread but apparently we don't
>>2965>le smug fat cat god.png
Nice, thanks for that
This is sarcastic
But I'm taking this "thanks" anyways
2UPER WHEN??? Moro saga is almost over in the manga now
Second Season is going to come out in December I think
Dragon Ball hasn't been good for a while now, but brands are big, so IDK what people are expecting
it is returning in december?
More screamfests and wacky fights galore
The new video-game related OVA's are weird as fuck but fun to watch as clips. A lot less screaming ironically.
Spics and niggers.
… Spics and niggers what?
I dont get why people hate on Super, Tournament of Power is the hypest saga since Namek.>>2954>hahaha child is pissing>hahaha creepy grandpa molests girl
Original Dragon Ball series is unwatchable shit.
>>5286>Tournament of Power is the hypest saga since Namek
Because the hype was too obvious tbh.>>5287
reminder than buu was already shown to be stronger than the supreme kais, which at that point were introduced as THE god(s) of the DB universe.
I never bothered with Super but afaik they simply pull out newer gods and newer godlike villains ad-infinitum, so I can't see what could possibly stop them from doing that again and again.
>>5286>I dont get why people hate on Super, Tournament of Power is the hypest saga since Namek.
Because it's dumbfoundingly stupid garbage that makes no sense and isn't even funny to make up for its stupidity. How can you have any hype left after two decades of relentless power level retcons?
black people and hispanics
Who is the best black character in this anime
Yeah it's sad what Dragon Ball has devolved into. It didn't used to be this bad, the fights were entertaining, there was some nice drama and heartfelt moments, cool themes, pervy moments, excellent worldbuilding, awesome Toriyama art, etc. of course it had problems (like Goku never maturing into a responsible person with a purpose other than "get stronger" and "have fun") but that's besides the point. Super meanwhile? The only thing I could praise is the occasional cool soundtrack, that's literally it.
Dragonball should have ended with Namek blowing up. That doesn't mean Super is good.
Obviously Mr.Popo >>5359>fights are better choreographed/animated
Only because of the debacle with the movie where the fuckups were so obvious only the most inattentive missed them. Super had a bigger budget and isn't hand-drawn unlike DBZ. DBZ had some bad parts but it was overall really fun, if stupid at times… this is solved by having DBZA which is peak Dragon Ball.
Some effort posts >>5429>>5427
Requesting mods put Dragon Ball Super in the OP post
I just watched dragon ball super for the first time. I "binged" the entire thing every night for the past 2 months.
The first two arcs are boring and drag on for too long which is to be expected since they were written as movies.
Goku Black's arc has a great soundtrack but the plot doesn't make any fucking sense; there are some cool fights here and there though, and LE MYSTERY adequately carries half of the saga.
Now for the hot take: the Universe Survival arc is awful. Dragon Ball has never been coherent with power levels (which all things considered is mostly autism, but still), however this arc not only ignores any notion of them existing but actively contradicts them ever being relevant (bro android 17 is as strong as a god because he destroys tanks on a remote island LOOL).
Fanwank aspergers aside, the first half is incredibly superfluous and, even worse, boring. We know all these guys are going into the tournament and we all know what they can do, the only swerve is Frieza getting in at the cost of Buu getting done dirty, which sucks massive dick because Buu has a really entertaining fight ""style"" compared to the rest of the more orthodox cast. IMO Frieza should've taken Roshi's place because the old master has no business being in that tournament, the man gets throughly btfo by dragon ball era Ten Shin Han, who's shown to be a massive load in the tournament despite dedicating his entire life to training martial arts, all the while Roshi faps on his island yet he's somehow stronger thanTtien; Piccolo can also perform the Mafuba so we don't need Roshi to get that technique in.
Then in the tournament itself, the battle royale part is the worst kind of filler: battle filler, and with a gallery of retarded enemies we know nothing about too (base Kefla looked really cool I'll admit).
The final showdown between U7 vs U11 is when things finally pick up yet the >muh strategy angle is kinda dropped here too in favour of standard shonen asspulls despite being the part where strategy would've mattered the most, since Jiren and Top are stupidly and unreasonably overpowered, yet Top gets taken out by a chump in a 1v1 without any iota of reason, so it's "funny" that they only apply strategy against Dispo who is easily the weakest out of the three and could probably get btfo by Goku alone.
And don't get me started on Jiren's backstory, shit's so cliché, boring and nonsensical it's incredibly fitting that the entire thing is narrated by a literal clown; I mean that had to be on purpose lol.
Finally, the filler stuff was actually very entertaining and the highlight of the entire anime but overall it's a retarded series don't watch dragon ball z, gt nor super ever.
Yeah, yeah I know I'm just too hooked on dragon ball fighterz so why the fuck not.
>Who the hell is even the target audience for this cringeworthy shitshow these days?
It's professional wrestling for weebs
Not untrue, still fun to glance at once in a while
Oh, totally. It's great seeing good guys beat up bad guys, yelling out attack names, throwing laser beams at each other, and so on. Honestly the thing mostly keeping me from getting into Super is just how awful it looked. Everything seemed to have a flat, plastic quality to it, and the proportions seemed off somehow. I guess they've fixed that recently?
>>10319>they've fixed that recently?
Yep, and the manga is apparently really good in the Moro arc ( see >>10313
Unfortunately a different manga Super Arc literally rips off Naruto, sharingan, Sussano'o and more.
Lol, that's most anime these days.
It finished a while back
Thread is from before December 20
It's still an anime from within the past 5 years, so still quite relevant.
>Is Dragon Ball Communist?
The Author Akira Toriyama is not a communist. this does not exclude the ideology being present. The aesthetics are often used for villains (starting from the Red Ribbon Army , Oolong and Emperor Pilaf) but the actual execution is more generic fascists. The Namekians are essentially Primitive Communists but that seems to be the extent of it. So no, it's not communist.
This thread expands on the nitty gritty argument anad socialist aspects in the series (Pre DBS): https://archive.ph/yrsbL
Symbolism for communism in DBZ: https://archive.ph/N8Uim
(I think it misses that Oolong is a caricature of Mao), The site covers a lot about Dragon Ball including Toriyama's biography such as his Bali Island tour https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/history/akira-toriyama-bali-island-tour-2/
>>10322>a different manga Super Arc literally rips off Naruto
I remembered - the Granolah Arc's antagonist. Also in the Moro arc, pic related is literally Goku's "energy avatar" that is basically the sussano'o/chakra avatar from Naruto.
Special X-Ray Eye ( think it could do illusions too but I forget)
Chunni style of dressing
Runs on anger and hate
Outside of the eye these things have appeared earlier in DB but the particular way it is used is Narutoesque.
>>2912>Who the hell is even the target audience for this cringeworthy shitshow these days? I'm seriously curious.<blacks and hispanics
Unironically and not really, they are the main audience for the whole dbz run.
Allow a black voice to explain, you see, growing up in the hood. There wasn't a lot of stuff to do apart from playing outside or playing batman. TVs were good as tables, unless you actually had a satellite dish then it was pointless. Let me tell you, having one of those was a sign of wealth. Parents spent a pretty penny on those things… I think that's when my childhood actually started. So what do you have to watch? The genetic 5 news, old star trek reruns and fx movies. Lame, lame and triple lame. But there was a savior amongst us… channel 170. The almighty, nickelodeon. I still remember the channel number to this day. It's burned into my brain from writing it so much. Wonder pets, penguins of Madagascar and fanboy and chum chum… don't get me wrong. Those were pretty good. But there was this one spectacular show that brought the whole gang together and we forgot our differences. Dragon ball Z Kai. The story of a kid from another world fighting evil and collecting dragon balls. I fell in love with anime ever since I discovered it. Even our parents would join along in the watch parties. We began in the emperor pilaf arc, to the saiyan arc to the popular frieza arc, and all the way to the cell games and finally the majin buu arc. God, I still look back to those days fondly. How many times has Goku had to train harder to surpass his limits. I still admire the guy to this day. His cheerful personality and strong demeanor was a sparkle for hope for me. A lot of my mexican buddies really liked that show. I remember this one guy, Felix. He streamed the dbz movies on his phone and he handed me a head bud. Yes, I did spend lunch watching gbz and pokemon movies. Yes, it was awesome.
>>Who the hell is even the target audience for this cringeworthy shitshow these days? I'm seriously curious.
It's something you had to experience at the moment. I would go as far to say it's in our culture now. DBZ has been with me. The fans of the old still watch dragon ball because we could never abandon it, not when it's done so much for us. 'll never forget it. Amway's wondering what was going to happen. Roleplaying the dbz fights with my friends behind my house. All my friends giving our energy to goku lol. Even as I attempted to explain it to you. You won't truly understand because you just had to go into dbz without knowing what it was. Sitting with your friends with a bowl of potato chips on a Saturday morning. This comrade missed out on the best anime ever… I won't lie to you, comrade. It's a little concerning that the new generation of weebs are a lot like you. To disrespect the anime before you as "cringe" and "stupid." You're entitled to your opinions but don't come to my conventions man. Stay away from the boorus. But most of all, don't call yourself a weeb when it's painfully obvious you're a normie.
>>10563>don't call yourself a weeb when it's painfully obvious you're a normie.
Not OP but I don't think they claimed to be a weeb? You can consume anime and not be one. Also I think they're more referring to Dragon Ball SUPER in terms of it being a downgrade compared to even GT. Everything you describe is mostly TV-anime stuff, not related to the manga much and DBS anime has been kind trash not gonna lie. The epic screamfests and explosions of DBZ are being rehashed in half-assed manner.
Also the OP made this post almost 2 years ago, when DBS didn't even have much to go on in terms of redeeming qualities compared to today. also a lot of fans are toxic as fuck, /a/ threads on the topic constantly try to "raid" other anime generals and get hated for it
Also personally I get annoyed by DBS because if you think DBZ did Gohan dirty, DBS just shits all over him even in the times that are supposed to be his "epid moments"
Have a chronic condition where I respond to post from years ago. Very serious as you noticed. >This>This<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RgzjGKKYcQ
Gohan never recovered from this. Goku's son is just a jobber now… Toriyama made of the most intriguing character in the whole series and then neuters him. I've seen super and I was disappointed that Gohan didn't have a moment where he surpassed Goku. I was actually waiting for it but he was just used to take out some literal who. Goku blanco was what redeemed it for me. Pure kino.
Yeah Goku Blanco is literally the meme that came to life.
>>10565>Also I think they're more referring to Dragon Ball SUPER in terms of it being a downgrade compared to even GT.
Not that anon but Latin Americans definitely ate that shit up.> /a/ threads on the topic constantly try to "raid" other anime generals and get hated for it
based, fuck /a/ (I was probably there and witnessed it too, when Super was airing)
>>10573>Have a chronic condition where I respond to post from years ago. Very serious as you noticed
lel >Goku's son is just a jobber now <that feel when GOTEN is better than Gohan as a character
sad >>10580>fuck /a/
Yah /a/ is cncerous but I preferred it when they targeted the moe-fags (that was glorious pic related). They tried to start shit against the Naruto generals and got BTFO pretty quick. The Naruto generals are probably the least retarded in the entire board, so it got annoying to get spammed (hilarious given the bad rep they get).
>>10587>that was glorious pic related
eh, it just looks like retards fighting over nothing.
based, love to see fights.
Oh hey I remember that LMAO
Yeah I agree, it was so fun, I haven't used /a/ in a long while so I didn't know they had become actually annoying
>>10591>Oh hey I remember that LMAO
Wait, how can I remember something that happened this year? I don't know but I definitely remembering seeing this very same picture years ago.
currently they've stopped raid attempts but the reputation remains. Also do you remember Jiren Brony? >>10592
>>10593>Also do you remember Jiren Brony?
Maybe I do, who was that? Did it have something to do with a ponyfied Jiren?
I think this isn't what I was thinking of but holy kek what an autismfest
Dragon ball super is awesome
it's fun I think you mean, there is nothing in DBS that has one in awe.
I was in awe of Chadren.
because they're wankers
Then why include them in DBZ or moreover in the DBS Tournament of Power?
>Who the hell is even the target audience for this cringeworthy shitshow these days? I'm seriously curious.
Because they're wankers
I'm not seeing the joke… is it about the guy on IMDB? Or a Latino reference?
Yeah, a Latino reference.
I disagree, the show was Super awesome all throughout.
Dragon Ball Z was a cash grab
>moeshit pedos can't comprehend true art
Didn't Yamcha actually have one a technique like spirit bomb? Also I'm more surprised that he didn't teach Piccolo that, it'd let him be relevant after the Super-Saiyan shit more.
I honestly like the design for Paparoni, A flamboyant character isn't rare for anime or even Dragon Ball, but he has an aesthetic and behavior that makes him memorable to me.
You ever think about the strangeness of DBS's Mirai Trunks and Future Mai pairing? To explain, Mai is a character from the original Dragon Ball Z back in the first Season literally, and roughly of the same age as Bulma. She got de-aged at one point in Super I think, but as a personality she's still the same mental age as Bulma by that point in the alternate Zamasu future. Future Trunks at that time is Chronologically 30 and Biologically 32 (due to Time-Chamber shenanigans), Bulma is nearly 2x that at 62 and Mai is supposed to be Biologically 30 in that future, but chronologically she is 60 (She's chronologically 41 and Biologically 11 during the God of Destruction Beerus Saga, 19 years before the Future Zamasu timeline). So basically she's mentally 2x Trunk's age. I don't knock it, but it's kinda funny to realize.

Sorry to telling you this but…Mai is OLDER than Bulma…if you watched original db, she looked like an adult while Bulma was a teenager.
She looks and acts older, but apparently she's a little younger.
My belief has always been that 18 is partly there to fill in the void left by Launch. They're both beautiful blonde's living at Kame house, with a troubled past and a mean streak. Both characters are voiced by the same actress in the funimation dub (Meredith McCoy). Clearly there is a strong connection between the two, even though they never meet. In fact, I think that's exactly why they never meet, because they are too similar. That's why 18 replaced Launch. I also believe that the romance between 18 and Krillin is the belated resolution of the failed romance arch between Launch and Tien. Of course I can't prove that, but we all have to try and make sense of Toriyama's chaotic brain somehow and I haven't heard any better theories.
>There is no actual connection between Launch and 18!
When I say that 18 is there to replace Launch, I mean that from the perspective of trying to unravel Toriyama's "subconscious". Toriyama didn't consciously replace Launch with 18, neither did he have the Tien-Launch romance consciously in mind when he made 18 and Krillin a couple. What I'm saying is that this is something he did without realizing it. Additionally, I do think there is a deeper similarity between the characters themselves. Both Launch and 18 are typically rather cold/stand-offish and only show their soft side at rare moments. They were both delinquents/criminals in the past. That's what I meant by "mean streak". They both have a sadistic side as well, not just a temper like ChiChi and Bulma do. Their relationship with master Roshi and the Z fighters is also similar. And it's definitely not true that almost every character lived at Kame house the way Krillin, 18 and Launch did, taking more or less permanent residence there.
Fan theories aside the real reason Toriyama forgot Launch existed is because he forgets shit all of the time and is an awful, repetitive and tropey writer. He forgot about Chi-Chi for most of Dragon Ball before shoving her into a pseudo-shotgun wedding near the end with a mentally challenged boy.
