One of many ways the bourgeois superstructure may react to a given scandal or controversy (specifically when it's in a position of high confidence in its social base already) is to simply normalize it, ask "what's the big deal?" and pretend as though the social taboo never existed in the first place, or was directed by this or that irrational "other" grouping (Muslims, Communists, etc.).
A relevant example of this is the bourgeois push to normalize the sex industry as a supposedly liberatory, even feminist practice, in opposition to the international proletarian line recognizing the sex industry as fundamentally predicated on patriarchal power structures and coercive incentives for sex (otherwise known as paid rape). This may then be reversed within bourgeois society when there is a power shakeup/struggle between bourgeois forces and the victor needs social mechanisms to keep the old power in-line (see: recent changes in Japan or the social marginalization of Mormons in the US).
I want to emphasize though that this is a tactic of a bourgeoisie that is
confident in its position already. The Epstein files straight-up say that Trump oversaw the murder of a baby and the disposal of its body and his base hasn't flinched, what makes any of you think involvement in a child prostitution ring is what's going to bring him down? In such a position, why not simply make moves to normalize these practices? It's certainly a lot cheaper for him. Expect politicians of both parties to be openly dating 18-year-olds again
at the very least by the end of the decade.
