People see the Empire as unsustainable because it is. People don’t truly see a point in foreign adventures unless they’re already ideologically committed (eg libs with Ukraine, Cons with Israel) and its easy as hell to make the case that the empire has to end. But instead of actually doing that we’ve got leftists online trying to front load how bad ending the empire would be. Like they’re trying to throw as many workers into the empire’s camp as possible. They talk about it in terms of punishing the workers. Which one would assume if they actually cared they’d be trying to lighten the impact of negative externalities. “It’ll hurt at first but we’ll be so much better off after.”
