If I were to put a term to what the phone does to a person, I'd say it's "soul-draining," and I have half a mind to call it "demonic possession" but people obviously look at you funny when you say that (even if we're all in agreement that tech billionaires are basically demons). Your soul, your consciousness, is the thing that's being silenced when you tap in to the noise; when your soul is quiet, it turns out you're more likely to accept wage slavery and authoritarianism and anti-intellectualism and bigotry and all that fun stuff. Thinking more about some vague thoughts that were swirling around my head I think I've formulated some of them better. It seems there are a couple trains of thought prevalent on here that are mostly the same as the rest of the imageboards lefty or not. It seems like there is a huge mass of NEET losers on imageboards and there are many who try to justify it saying that the system is evil, so checking out of it and becoming a leech is actually a positive act because you help destroy the system that way. There are the NEETs who feel some kind of revenge for being called losers by taunting the "wagies" that frequent imageboards with the "wagie, wagie, get in cagie" and etc. Then there are the anti-NEET type people, the ones that are like "just get your life together man, just get a job, go to parties, get a girlfriend, pay your taxes." Whatever. Lot more layers and substrains but let's just call these the two parts of the dichotomy:

So I don't know, I still haven't been able to deduce what would make me happy or proud of myself. I guess just play the game, get wealthy, donate to charity, help save this one person or that handful of people in this country or in this world somewhere. At least I guess I will have done something, anything. With my meager resources, I've already managed to help this person or that person a little. Some people have told me even I've changed or saved their life, told me I was their angel. I guess I can just try to make money the most ethical way I can and then keep doing whatever acts of charity I can afford. Maybe I could get a job just helping people for a living, become a social worker or something like that. I don't know.
I think for me, if I really wanted to live my best life, maybe I would just pull a Lao Tzu and just ride off into the sunset and be a hermit innnawoods in some place of natural beauty for the rest of my days. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
