Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it attacked an alleged US-linked oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz as part of a wave of strikes retaliating against the US-Israel assault.
“The ATHE NOVA tanker, one of the American allies in the Strait of Hormuz, is still on fire after being hit by two drones,” the IRGC said in a statement.
On Saturday, the elite paramilitary force said it closed the waterway, which is vital for global oil-and-gas shipments, after the start of US and Israeli attacks.
The Strait of Hormuz handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s traded oil and significant volumes of liquefied natural gas exports from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. About 20 percent of global daily oil consumption — roughly 20 million barrels — passes through the narrow corridor.

Drone hits fuel tank terminal in Abu Dhabi, situation contained
A drone has struck a fuel tank terminal in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi, causing a fire although operations have not been impacted.
“Abu Dhabi authorities have responded today to a fire resulting from the targeting of a Musaffah fuel tank terminal by a drone,” the Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a statement.
“The situation was promptly contained. No injuries were reported and there was no impact on operations.”

Hezbollah: No justification for Lebanese government ban
Mohammad Raad, a member of the Lebanese parliament representing Hezbollah, has said there is no justification for the government's ban on his movement's military and security activities.
Following a cabinet meeting, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced a total and immediate ban on Hezbollah's military and security activities and called on Hezbollah to hand over its “illegal” weapons to the state and remain a political party.
The move came after Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel, which Israel has responded to with a wide wave of air strikes that have killed at least 31 people so far.
Responding to the ban, Raad, who had been incorrectly declared dead by The Jerusalem Post earlier on Monday, said Hezbollah understood "the Lebanese government's impotence in the face of the brutal Zionist enemy", as well as its "right to decide on war and peace, and its inability to implement and enforce this decision against the enemy".
"However, given this clear weakness and deficiency, we see no justification for President Salam and his government to take such aggressive measures against the Lebanese who reject the occupation, accusing them of violating a peace that the enemy has disregarded and refused to uphold for a year and four months."
Raad said that Israel had "imposed a state of daily war on the Lebanese people" and that the Lebanese government had been unable to stop this.
"The Lebanese were expecting a resolution to prohibit aggression, but instead, they are faced with a resolution prohibiting resistance to aggression," he said.
Raad concluded by saying that Hezbollah's resistance was "a clear rejection of the path of submission and the deception of the Lebanese people into believing that reconciliation with the enemy and submission to its conditions is the only way to achieve the illusory Lebanese security and peace".
The Jerusalem Post erroneously reported on Monday that Raad was killed by Israel.

Oil tanker stopped in the Strait of Hormuz, maritime sources confirm
Two maritime sources confirmed that an oil tanker was stopped in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian news agencies earlier reported that a fuel tanker was burning in the strait after being hit by two drones.
A statement by Iran's Revolutionary Guards named the vessel as Athen Nova, an apparent reference to Honduras-flagged asphalt tanker Athe Nova, which it said was acting "in unison with America."
The statement did not explicitly state that the ship was hit by Iranian drones, although the incident was mentioned in a line of a report about the Guards' military operations.
The strait is the world's most vital oil export route, connecting the biggest Gulf oil producers, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
Reuters was not immediately able to contact the Athe Nova's registered owner.

Tensions are escalating between Hezbollah and the Lebanese army after the government banned the group’s military activities.
As Israeli strikes continued across Lebanon today, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that Hezbollah’s military activities are now officially prohibited, with the cabinet instructing the army to fast-track the group’s disarmament “by any means necessary”.

Hezbollah was significantly weakened during the 2024 war in which its longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed by Israel. Since then, Israel has continued to carry out almost-daily strikes on southern Lebanon.
Why QatarEnergy’s LNG production halt could shake up global gas markets
QatarEnergy has suspended liquefied natural gas (LNG) production following a drone attack, straining the global LNG market.
On Monday, Iranian drones struck two sites, according to Qatar’s Ministry of Defence: a water tank at a power plant in Mesaieed Industrial City and an energy facility in Ras Laffan belonging to QatarEnergy, the world’s largest LNG producer.
While no casualties were reported, QatarEnergy suspended the production of LNG and other products at the impacted sites for security reasons.
Qatar’s LNG exports represent 20 percent of the global market. With fewer products reaching the market, LNG supply is down, causing prices to surge.
