He said that Kurds are not the shield of any country. Kurds can only fight for their own democratic rights and freedoms. Mr. Bafil Talabani, on the other hand, issued a very historic warning. He said exactly this: “It would be a grave mistake to use Kurds as spearheads in this war. Kurdistan should be a bridge, not a battlefield.”

What did we say? From the very first day, we said, 'We are against the intervention of hegemonic powers in Iran. However, we are also against the denialist, executioner, corrupt mullah regime there.' We also said something else. What did we say? 'We stand with the women resisting in Iran.' We stand with the resisting Kurds, Balochs, Azeris, and Persians who are dissatisfied with the regime. We support their struggles. The message of the Kurds and their leaders is clear and reflects a very honorable stance. They are not trying to exploit the situation.

"We say, 'Don't see Kurds as a threat.' Look, you've seen these statements too. Recognize and accept the Kurds as a people who will contribute to regional peace. We invite those who say 'we are monitoring Kurdish groups' to first follow the honorable approaches of Kurdish leaders."

From Simkoye Shikaki to Suleyman Muini, from Abd al-Rahman Qasimlo to Farzat Kamanger and Shirin Elamhuri, the Iranian Kurds have a long history of resistance.

It's as if the Kurds only started fighting when Israel and the United States intervened. The Kurds have been fighting for 100 years and don't trust anyone. They fight believing in their own strength and the democratic unity of the peoples there. Look, if Ptolemy, in the atlas he drew 2000 years ago, named those mountains the Kurdish mountains, the mountains of Kurdistan; who can question the existence of the Kurds? Kurds, like other peoples, have the right to live freely in their own land. In Kurdistan, a land named 2000 years ago, Kurds have the right to live freely. Iran is a vast and ancient geography where dozens of peoples and faiths coexist. We know this. It is impossible to maintain a monolithic, denialist, and oppressive regime in such a geography. The model that will bring peace and prosperity to Iran is a democratic foundation where all peoples, faiths, and genders voluntarily live together. Iran has no other way out.

The stories of Syria, Iran, and Iraq tell us a great deal. A country that rejects peace, justice, and the rule of law is ultimately drawn into the vortex of war. How was Iraq drawn into it? Because it had chemical weapons. How was Iran drawn into it? Because it was producing nuclear warheads. In short, it is being drawn into a vortex of war by hegemonic and imperial powers that do not recognize the rights and laws of its own citizens. Please, let no one see this as a threat. We want to protect our country from this approaching storm. Yes, I say our country, because even though we are not yet equal, it is our country. Because this country belongs to all of us. We will live together on this country for thousands of years.

The Kurdish issue must not become a pretext for regional war again. The war in Iran should not trigger security reflexes in Türkiye, but rather accelerate and expand the solution. Everyone should be well aware of the value of the peace process initiated by Mr. Öcalan in Türkiye. We are surrounded by a ring of fire. This fire is getting closer to our borders every day. For over a year, we have been expressing our thoughts and warnings, especially from these areas. We said, "Let's not delay, let's act quickly." We said that a storm has broken out and is sweeping across the entire region. Today, we are practically on a tightrope. We cannot afford to waste this historic crossroads and historic opportunity by delaying or postponing it.

Much time has been lost so far. But in this period when global balances are being turned upside down, we have no more time to lose. Turkey can be a strategic center of stability against regional turbulence. The danger is great. But the government is still pursuing petty calculations. While the world is talking about something else, they are busy extending the terms of appointed administrators. Yet, in precisely these kinds of processes, the greatest guarantee is law and justice. That is, something we lack. Let me give you two examples. The term of the administrator appointed to our Mardin Metropolitan Municipality has been extended by another two months. I don't know if the promise of "Ahmet and Devrim returning to their posts" was just a promise made casually. It was said, but it wasn't fulfilled. Neither Ahmet nor Devrim were reinstated to their posts. With what logic, with what law, is the term of the appointed administrator being extended? It's difficult to understand this. Put an end to this now. We say, remove the appointed administrators from the municipalities where they have been appointed, and let the elected officials return to their posts.
