The US military has accelerated the deployment of thousands of Marines and sailors to help reinforce US troops in the Middle East amid the war against Iran.

Four officials tell Newsmax the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit is deploying ahead of schedule from the West Coast and is expected to sail through the Indo-Pacific to the Middle East region after the Navy was ordered to surge additional fire power.

The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group includes the USS Boxer amphibious assault ship—which serves as a mini aircraft carrier—and USS Portland and USS Comstock amphibious landing ships. There are roughly 2,500 Marines–4,000 total service members aboard these three amphibs.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday said “Iran is being decimated” as the U.S. and Israel target its ballistic missile and nuclear programs from the air — but he added that meaningful regime change will require a “ground component.”

“You don’t want to replace one ayatollah with another,” Netanyahu said at a press conference. “You don’t want to replace Hitler with Hitler.”

He said that the Iranian people must ultimately “rise to the moment.”

“We can create the conditions, but they have to, you know, they have to exploit those conditions at a certain point,” he said.

A revolution cannot come “only from the air,” he went on. “You can do a lot of things from the air, and we’re doing [them,] but … there has to be a ground component as well.”

His remarks left open the possibility that such on-the-ground action may take many forms. “There are many possibilities for this ground component, and I take the liberty of not sharing with you all those possibilities.”

Now this is a problem. If potato king is bailing it means he knows cucktin is cucked.

Seven U.S. allies announced in a joint statement on Thursday their support for a potential coalition to reopen the strait of Hormuz for commercial ships and oil tankers.

Reality check: The statement does not include any commitment to send naval vessels or other resources to make that happen. For now, it's largely a gesture to placate President Trump, who has railed against allies for declining to help secure the strait and warned that a failure to do so could undermine the future of NATO.

Why it matters: The strait closure has become the main crisis for the White House in the war.

As long as the Iranian blockade holds and Gulf oil remains trapped, President Trump can't end the war and declare victory even if he wants to.
Driving the news: The White House has been trying both military and diplomatic means to unlock the Hormuz crisis.

The U.S. military is conducting strikes on Iranian anti-ship positions along the shores of the Strait of Hormuz to decimate Iran's ability to attack oil tankers.
Meanwhile, the White House and State Department have tried to build a coalition of countries to provide ships, other military assets and political backing for a mission to escort ships or otherwise provide a secure route for shipping in and out of the Gulf.
On Tuesday Trump said most NATO members have informed the U.S. that they don't want to get involved. "WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE!" he wrote on Truth Social.
Behind the scenes: The U.K. has been pushing over the last few days to get as many Western countries as possible to sign a political statement expressing support for a Strait of Hormuz coalition.

NATO Secretary General Marc Rutte has also been part of that effort, sources say.
German Chancellor Merz was very skeptical of the idea and French President Emmanuel Macron opposed forming any such coalition except as part of an agreement with Iran after the war is over.
With Macron opposing, many other European countries didn't want to move forward either, sources familiar say.
On Thursday morning, Rutte and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Macron and convinced him to lift his opposition to the political statement of support, while leaving the discussion on the practical steps for later, sources said.

Japan also joined the statement at the last minute. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will meet Trump at the White House on Thursday.

The other signatories were Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Canada joined later, becoming the seventh signatory.
What they're saying: In the statement, the seven U.S. allies condemned Iran's attacks on commercial vessels in the Gulf and on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations, "and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces."

"We call on Iran to cease immediately its threats, laying of mines, drone and missile attacks and other attempts to block the Strait to commercial shipping," they wrote.
The seven U.S. allies expressed readiness "to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait" and start "preparatory planning."
Yes, but: France, Germany, Italy and Japan have previously all publicly ruled out sending naval vessels to the strait during the war. It's unclear whether any of them will change that posture after signing the statement.

Trump has said the U.S. could reopen the strait with just Israel and the Gulf countries, but would remember those who failed to step up.
What to watch: The U.K. sent military officers to CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida to start working with the U.S. military on planning for a Strait of Hormuz coalition, according to a source with knowledge.

The UK navy has dispatched two war ships to the region to be ready to join a potential joint effort to reopen the strait

Sirens sound in Jerusalem, central Israel
Local broadcaster Channel 12 says Iranian missile attacks on Israel have triggered air raid sirens in central Israel, including Jerusalem.
This comes as the Israeli military reported incoming missile fire from Iran three times in the last two hours.

Iran’s attack on Ras Laffan major hit to Qatar’s economy
The biggest damage that was done was to Qatar’s economy, basically as a consequence of the attack on the Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility.
It’s one of the biggest in the world. When it comes to production, exports of LNG, Qatar accounts for 20 percent of the world’s LNG exports.

Let me just put some numbers into perspective.
The CEO of QatarEnergy, Saad al-Kaabi, has given an interview to Reuters and said that the cost of this attack, which damaged two facilities, two trains out of 14 in that huge facility, is going to be worth about $20bn in lost revenue per year now.
He said that it would take three to five years to restore that because these facilities are very complex; it’s very difficult to put them online, very difficult to build them.
These are joint projects with Exxon Mobil, for example. And so three to five years means $60 to $100bn in lost revenue from LNG exports, which are, right now, basically they’ve stopped because of the Strait of Hormuz, but that’s short-term force majeure.
Al-Kaabi now says long-term force majeure is most likely going to be declared.
He says it’s compelled to declare force majeure and its contracts on delivery of LNG to Belgium, Italy, South Korea and China.
Now, just to compare the gross domestic product (GDP) of Qatar’s economy for 2025, they estimate it is about $225bn, so the country that relies so heavily on LNG export is going to be taking a hit of 9 percent of its GDP per year because of this attack on Ras Laffan.

Bahrain says five missiles shot down
The country’s Defence Force says in a short statement that it shot down five incoming missiles in recent hours.
Separately, Bahrain’s Defence Force said in a statement that the kingdom has intercepted and destroyed 139 missiles and 238 drones since the start of the war, more than 2 weeks ago.
“The use of ballistic missiles and drones to target civilian objects and private property constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter,” Bahrain’s Defence Force added.

Iran says it targeted Israel’s internal security ministry with drones
Iran’s military says it attacked Israel’s internal security ministry in West Jerusalem with drones in retaliation for the recent killing of its top officials and dozens of sailors.
The strikes were “in response to the blood of the heroes” of the warship IRIS Dena, and Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, a statement said.
It’s unclear if any damage was sustained or casualties inflicted.

Trump invokes Pearl Harbor in talking about launching Iran war
The US president was pressed by reporters in the Oval Office to explain why he did not coordinate or inform allies, such as Japan, before launching the war.
“We didn’t tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise,” said Trump, who then said, turning to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, “Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor, OK? Right?”
The December 7, 1941, Japanese bombing of the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii killed more than 2,300 Americans. The US declared war against Japan the next day
Mireya Solís, director of the Center for Asia Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, said Trump’s remarks were “unusual – a shock”.
“The purpose of this visit is to emphasise the shared vision – the strong bonds that unite Japan and the United States – not the divisive past and the bitter rivalry and conflict of the war,” Solís told The New York Times.

Israel says Hezbollah launched 700 rockets, shells and drones
The Israeli military’s Arabic language spokesman has said that Hezbollah has launched “approximately 700 rockets, artillery shells and drones toward Israel” since March 2.
Avichay Adraee added that these came from areas located south of the Litani River, and accused the Lebanese army of failing to clear Hezbollah from the area.
Israeli attacks on Lebanon have killed more than 1,000 people since March 2, according to the country’s Health Ministry.

The near real-time location of France's aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle was inadvertently revealed when a sailor recorded a deck jog on the popular sports tracking app Strava, the Le Monde daily reported Thursday, exposing the warship's position in the Mediterranean as it deployed toward Iran.

The newspaper said a young naval officer used a connected smartwatch to log a run of just over seven kilometers on the ship's deck, with his public Strava profile broadcasting his location almost in real time.

Le Monde verified the breach using satellite imagery taken shortly after the jog, which clearly showed the distinctive outline of the 262-meter carrier northwest of Cyprus island, roughly 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the Turkish coast.

France had announced the carrier's deployment on March 3, days after the start of US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

The Armed Forces General Staff confirmed to Le Monde that posting the run was not in compliance with current instructions on digital security, adding that "appropriate measures will be taken by the command."

The newspaper also found at least one other crew member aboard a French naval vessel on active deployment who had publicly posted geolocated sports activity, suggesting the problem was not isolated.

The UAE‘s state security service has announced the dismantling of a network operating inside the state, funded and managed by the Lebanese group Hezbollah and Iran, and the arrest of its members.
The network was operating within the country’s territory under fictitious commercial cover, seeking to infiltrate the national economy and execute foreign schemes that threaten the financial stability of the country, the state-run WAM news agency reported.

With rockets, the resistance strikes Al-Manara, Margaliot, and enemy gatherings in Taybeh and Maroun.
The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah - continues to carry out its military operations in defense of Lebanon and its people, targeting sites and gatherings of the Israeli occupation army in the south of the country and northern occupied Palestine.
The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon announced, as part of the warning it issued to a number of Israeli settlements in northern occupied Palestine, that its fighters targeted the Manara settlement and the "Margaliot" settlement with two rocket salvos at (10:00 PM Beirut time).
The resistance also targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in a park in the border town of Maroun al-Ras with a rocket barrage. In another statement, the resistance said it targeted a gathering of Israeli occupation vehicles in Baydar al-Fuqani in the town of Taybeh with artillery shells.

In the same context, Hezbollah targeted a gathering of enemy “army” soldiers in the Al-Muhaysibat hill south of the Al-Taybeh project with artillery shells, and at (17:20 Beirut time) on Thursday afternoon, it also targeted a gathering of occupation “army” vehicles in the Al-Taybeh project with artillery shells.
Resistance fighters targeted a gathering of occupation soldiers in Khirbet al-Kassif, southwest of the town of Taybeh, with artillery shells, and also targeted the “Harmoon” site at (19:00) with a rocket salvo.
As part of expanding the scope of targeting, the resistance bombed the "Yodevat" military industries company east of Haifa with a rocket salvo, while targeting the "Shtula" settlement, as part of the warning it directed to the northern settlements.
The settlement of Kiryat Shmona was also targeted for the sixth time today with a rocket barrage, in response to the attacks, and a gathering of occupation soldiers at the Calf Hill site north of the settlement of Kfar Yuval was also targeted with a swarm of attack drones.

<Military media publishes footage of targeting occupation vehicles and bases

Meanwhile, the military media of the Islamic Resistance published footage of its operations, including targeting armored vehicles belonging to the Israeli enemy “army” in the Al-Faqani heights north of the town of Al-Taybeh in southern Lebanon.
The military media published footage of the targeting of the Samson base west of Lake Tiberias by a squadron of attack drones.
The resistance also published footage of targeting a D9 engineering vehicle belonging to the Israeli enemy “army” in the town of Taybeh in southern Lebanon.
This morning, the occupation army attempted, for the third time in a week, to advance towards the Al-Baydar Al-Faqani area north of Taybeh. After spotting the enemy forces, resistance fighters set up a well-planned ambush , targeting the Israeli force with guided missiles, which resulted in the destruction of several Israeli tanks.

Is The Iran War About to Escalate Into a Ground War?
>Jeremy Scahill speaks with Foad Izadi about the growing risk of escalation in the Iran war. As tensions rise, they discuss the possibility of U.S. ground troops, threats to the Strait of Hormuz, and how far this conflict could spread.

>"The cost of replacing the first four days' worth of munitions would be $20bn-26bn. The problem, however, is more to do with scarcity than cost. America is thought to have used more than 300 Tomahawk cruise missiles in the opening days of the war, but the Pentagon had planned to buy just 57 new ones in the current fiscal year. There have been no deliveries of THAAD interceptors since 2023 and the Pentagon has not placed any new orders this year. A puny 39 interceptors are slated for delivery in 2027—six years after they were ordered."

>Government gives it all to the defense contractors in the MIC
>MIC corps use 100% of the money to do shareholder dividends and share buyback and 0% gets reinvested into increasing their productive capacities
But remember guys: Communism is the one that doesn't work!

The OP mentions WTI/oil. There's a rumor that the Department of the Treasury may be shorting crude oil futures (basically, "selling" non-existent oil barrels). Scott Bessent brought up this possibility, although he's walked back from it (after CME Group, which operates the futures exchange for crude oil, objected). WTI's price movement has been oddly sluggish after the initial overnight panic and mini-crash when the war started.

There seem to be growing fears of commodity prices more generally rising, especially food, because fertilizer prices are also being heavily affected by the war with Iran (fertilizer inputs like ammonia and urea are being affected both by shipping problems in the Strait of Hormuz and manufacturing problems). It's also close to planting season for a number of important crops like corn and spring wheat. That's resulting in more hedging (or speculation) in agricultural commodities in the derivatives market.

Maybe this doesn't sound very important, but, in short, Wall Street is starting to price in the possibility that the war with Iran will have knock-on effects that can't be easily reversed or undone, that Trump/Netanyahu won't be able to bring an end to the war any time soon, that basic agricultural commodities are going to get even more expensive over the course of the year and worsen inflation, and that the Federal Reserve can't or won't mitigate inflation (partly because job growth has been anemic, partly because the stock market will react violently to higher interest rates, partly because Kevin Warsh was nominated as the next Chair of the Federal Reserve by presenting himself as "dovish" on interest rates, and partly because raising or even just maintaining the Fed's interest rate angers the vindictive imbecile who's president).

If the war continues, all the ingredients seem to add up to stagflation. Separately, if you look at the S&P 500 index historically, the pattern since November resembles the start of a "bear market" draw-down, possibly even the lead-up to a crash.

Revolutionary Guard: Wave 66 was executed "with complete success"… targeting Tel Aviv and American bases in the region
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the execution of the 66th wave of Operation “True Promise 4” at dawn on Friday, targeting sites in the heart and south of the occupied territories, including Tel Aviv, in addition to American military bases in the region.
The Revolutionary Guard's public relations statement explained that this wave was carried out "with complete success," noting the use of various solid and liquid fueled, super-heavy, and multi-warhead missile systems, including the medium-range "Qadr," "Khorramshahr," "Kheybarshkan," "Qiam," and "Zulfiqar" missiles, in addition to suicide drones.

The statement added that living from one air raid siren to another, and spending long periods in shelters, has become one of the most prominent consequences of the war for the residents of the occupied territories, considering this to be one of the repercussions of the policies of the Israeli government and its head, Benjamin Netanyahu, and US President Donald Trump.

The Revolutionary Guard confirmed that the operations are continuing, saying: "We will not leave you… this wave continues."
Yesterday, Thursday, during the 65th wave, the Revolutionary Guard used the upgraded "Nasrallah" system for the first time, along with medium and long-range missiles, targeting American bases in the region and sites inside the occupied territories, including the Haifa and Ashdod refineries.

Here are today’s top developments:
>Iran has warned it will show no restraint if its energy infrastructure is hit again, after Israel attacked its South Pars site on Wednesday.
<President Donald Trump said the US had nothing to do with Israel’s attack on South Pars, saying it “violently lashed out”. He also said he instructed Israel’s PM Netanyahu to cease attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure.
>About 17 percent of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas export capacity has been wiped out, causing an estimated $20bn in lost annual revenue, according to QatarEnergy’s CEO.
<The death toll in Lebanon has surpassed 1,000 people since Israeli attacks escalated on March 2. At least 2,584 people have also been wounded. More than 1 million people have been forcibly displaced.
>The leaders of several European countries, as well as Canada and Japan, expressed their “readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage” through the Strait of Hormuz.

If true that would cause a short squeeze unless they can find a solution to this crisis in a well-defined time-frame (very unlikely in my opinion, as their only option would have to be a serious diplomatic compromise).

‘Unusually intense night of missile activity over Jerusalem’
During these nighttime hours of Thursday, going through into Friday, it has been a particularly intense period of missile activity.
We are getting reports of two ground explosions in the Jerusalem area, presumably from impacting missiles, or at least debris falling to the ground.
No reports yet of casualties, but Jerusalem itself was the target of four waves of incoming weapons, four separate air raid warnings being sounded within the space of an hour, which is unusually intense.
We’ve also been getting reports of sirens going off across a broad swath of central Israel, across the Jordan Valley, as well as the occupied West Bank.
We’re also seeing on social media various clips of what appear to be either falling missiles or debris from intercepted missiles in the city of Haifa. There appear to have been interceptions there with debris falling to the ground.
Also, a falling missile, or part of a missile, in a village in northern Israel.
It does seem as though, as we get further into the early hours of Friday here, things do seem to have settled somewhat.
But again, here in Amman, a couple of hours ago, we went through a phase where we were having air raid sirens going off every 20, 30 minutes or so, detecting the proximity of missiles, again interspersed by distant thuds and explosions, presumably from air defence interceptors at work, intercepting some of those missiles.

Trump looking for ‘exit ramps’ from Iran war: Analyst
Trita Parsi, vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, a foreign think tank in Washington, DC, said President Trump knows the war against Iran is not going well and he’s looking for an exit strategy.
“I think it’s becoming increasingly clear that President Donald Trump himself is not only aware that the war is not going particularly well but that all of his escalatory options are quite problematic because they will inflict a cost on Iran, but it will also inflict major costs on the US,” Parsi said.
“The Iranians clearly have the ability to retaliate. They have clearly shown that they have an ability and a willingness to strike in a manner that will really devastate the global economy, including, of course, the economies of the GCC states, which will have a direct impact on the US economy as well,” he said.
Trump’s’ political support base in the US is also “starting to become nervous about this war”, Parsi said.
“The rest of the country is strongly against it, but the base has been somewhat supportive – strongly supportive in some cases – but [they] are becoming nervous,” he said.
“Trump understands that he needs to find exit ramps,” he added.

Warning sirens sound in north Israel
Local Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 says Iranian missile attacks on Israel have triggered air raid sirens in the north of the country.
This comes as the Israeli military again reported incoming missile fire from Iran.

Warning sirens activated in Bahrain
Warning sirens are sounding in Bahrain and people have been urged to move to their nearest safe place and remain calm, according to the Interior Ministry.

Consumers bear brunt of oil, gas prices as Washington maintains damage is temporary
We’ve had major implications from this conflict already, with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz being called the single most disruptive event in the history of the oil and gas industry by the International Energy Agency.
Now, the consumers worldwide have noticed fuel prices going up. They’re the ones footing the bill. US Consumers have been complaining, saying that their gasoline is going through the roof.
However, JD Vance and Washington have been downplaying those comments, saying it’s just a short term blip.
The implication here being that as soon as the war is over, you know, three to four weeks, or whatever the estimate of Washington is now, and the Strait of Hormuz has reopened. everything is back to normal.
We now have evidence of the contrary, because QatarEnergy has said LNG (liquefied natural gas) exports will be affected for the next three to five years. It is compelled, as it says, to declare force majeure on its supplies to Belgium, Italy, China, South Korea.

That’s one implication.
Another one being that gas-to-liquids plant being affected, and that means condensate exports down 24 percent, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). So that’s cooking gas affected 13 percent.
All of this is going to create a massive increases in prices. The biggest consumer of LPG using cooking gas is Indian households. Hundreds of millions of Indian households use LPG as their primary source of energy for cooking.
So all of this is on the consumer and perhaps providing even more pressure in Washington to perhaps end this conflict before even more damage is done.

Saudi Arabia intercepts more drones in the Eastern region

Hezbollah attacks Israeli soldiers in south Lebanon
Hezbollah says in separate statements on its Telegram channel that it fired missiles at a group of Israeli soldiers and vehicles in al-Aadaissah, southern Lebanon, and that it launched another missile attack at soldiers in the border town of Mays al-Jabal.
The Israeli army has expanded its ground troop presence in southern Lebanon since it escalated attacks on the country on March 2.

Not joking. Look I went to Catholic school and took comparative religions classes there, and I’ve never seen such a flagrant attempt at indoctrination before that Econ class.

We had Milton Friedman’s “Free to Choose” as one of our reading materials, we also had to read “The Big Short” and he ignored the whole fact that the banks basically destroyed the lives of millions of people to home in on
>”If you’re smart, you and your friends can beat the market and make it rich!!!”
We read articles defending price gouging during disasters (“It’s just supply and demand!”) and he claimed that if, for example, a highway broke down, Walmart would build a better one in pursuit of profit.

It was my Freshman year, up until then I was getting a Catholic education and was raised on Catholic Social Teaching in regards to economics—I had teachers who told me that it was impossible for normal people to beat the market and we need a preferential option for the poor, so this guy was challenging my already established value system.

A correspondent and cameraman of the Kremlin-funded news network RT were injured in a missile strike while reporting in southern Lebanon on Thursday.

RT cameraman Ali Rida captured the moment correspondent Steve Sweeney ducked for cover as a loud explosion ripped behind him. They were both injured by shrapnel from the blast and were receiving medical aid at a local hospital, according to the broadcaster.

It said the crew was filming near Al-Qasmiya Bridge, “not far from a local military base” in southern Lebanon, when it was attacked.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said Wednesday that the military previously struck the bridge over ‌Lebanon’s Litani ‌River, claiming it was used by the Iran-aligned Hezbollah group to smuggle weapons to the south.

According to RT, Rida accused the Israeli forces of “deliberately” attacking them near the bridge despite them wearing vests marked “PRESS.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed the strike was “not accidental.”

“The missile did not hit an ‘important strategic military target,’ but the location of the report,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.

She said Russia expected a response to the incident from “international organizations.”

Hezbollah said Thursday that its fighters were battling Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, as a military source on the ground told AFP that Israeli troops were slowly advancing while “systematically destroying” border towns.
