US lifts sanctions on Iranian oil loaded on tankers
The Trump administration has been under fire for rising global oil prices and the knock on costs that brings to other products.
What Trump was hoping to do is to increase the supply of oil.
This is something that was just posted on the Treasury Department website, as it lifts sanctions on oil of Iranian origin, and it specifically says loaded on any vessel.
So that would mean a vessel could carry Iranian oil away and sell it.
On the other hand, theoretically, if someone else were to take over, you know, the Kharg Island, or oil production there, they also would be allowed to sell that oil.
I’m not saying we have any information on that. We don’t.
But it’s an interesting move, because it would seem to be counterproductive of the US over all of these many years to be carrying out sanctions – that block Iran from selling oil and make it very difficult for it to make money off it – and then suddenly release it at a time when it is at war with Iran.
So it seems to be a juxtaposition here in the US.

The United Arab Emirates’ port city of Ras al-Khaimah will be targeted if Iran’s Abu Musa and Greater Tunb islands near the Strait of Hormuz are hit again, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned.
A statement published by Fars news agency quoted the Revolutionary Guard as saying that its forces will subject the UAE port city “to crushing blows” if new attacks target the two islands.
“As we had previously announced and have proven in practice, we will attack the source of any aggression against our land and national sovereignty,” the statement said.

Saudi Arabia-Iran ties ‘at a point of no return’
In the last 24 hours, there have been at least 56 Iranian drones violating Saudi Arabia’s airspace, mostly aiming at its Eastern Province.
That’s important because the overwhelming majority of the country’s oil resources and energy installations are located there, including oil processing plants and export terminals.
So it’s clear that Iran is attacking the economic lifeline of Saudi Arabia. The kingdom has an advantage compared to most other Gulf countries because it can partially bypass the Strait of Hormuz and transfer the energy through the Red Sea. However, 70 percent of the country’s energy is being transported or sold to the world through the waterway.
The Iranian attacks are not only putting pressure on Saudi Arabia’s economy, but also on diplomacy by further deteriorating relations between Riyadh and Tehran.
Two days ago, when several foreign ministers of Islamic countries were having a meeting in Riyadh, three Iranian ballistic missiles attacked the capital. That triggered a harsh statement from Saudi Arabia, with the foreign minister saying that the little trust left between Tehran and Riyadh had been shattered.
In 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a China-brokered rapprochement agreement. The goal for that agreement was that in case of any conflict between Israel and Iran, Saudi Arabia would remain neutral.

Five wounded in northern Israel after rocket attack: Report
Video posted earlier today shows damage to a residential building in Ma’alot-Tarshiha in northern Israel following a rocket attack from Lebanon and falling interception debris.
Five people were lightly wounded after a Hezbollah rocket struck a home in the town, medics said, according to the Times of Israel.
Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency service said the injuries were caused by shrapnel following the impact.
UK rules out using Cyprus bases for attacks on Iran: Cypriot official
The UK will not use its military bases in Cyprus for offensive operations related to the Iran crisis, a Cypriot government spokesperson said.
The comments followed a phone call between UK’s Prime Minister Starmer and Cypriot President Christodoulides.

Iran says it attacked bases in UAE, Kuwait
Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB says its naval forces destroyed facilities at the Al-Minhad base in the UAE and the Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait using ballistic missiles and drones.
In a statement posted on Telegram, IRIB said the strikes hit hangars and fuel tanks of what it described as “American-Zionist aircraft”, claiming the bases were used in attacks on Iranian territory.
The claims could not be independently verified. There has been no comment from Kuwait and the UAE.

Iran’s Gulf relations depend on US military presence: Analyst
Zohreh Kharazmi, an associate professor at the University of Tehran, says Iran is willing to maintain friendly relations with Gulf states, but only if their territory is not used for military operations against it.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, she said the use of Saudi airspace and facilities for refuelling bombers and launching attacks on Iranian cities was a key concern.
