After a long hiatus, HOUDINI Collective's relocation fundraising is officially back, and more equipt to handle the needs of the people we're supporting.

Relocation aid is hefty work, so we've taken the time to formalize the process, get critical about what worked and what didn't, and iterate upon our past success. Last year we helped move a transwoman from Arkansas to Philadelphia with a small public fundraising campaign to go with it. Since we've connected others with housing relocation resources behind the scenes. The Trapdoor Initiative is the result of our behind the scenes organizing and lessons learned. We already have our first person to help escape.

A queer teenager from deep red country; the heart of rural Tennessee. Ever since they were kicked out by their queerphobic family, and with nowhere else to go, theyโ€™ve been forced to survive in a corrupt, abusive group home. With your help we can offer them an escape, a trapdoor from their current situation.

Weโ€™re shooting for $500. $500 to get our comrade out of rural Tennessee and to New York City, where a HOUDINI Collective member will be waiting with a transition plan to ensure emergency, transitional, and ultimately permanent housing. Travel costs for this make up half of the fundraising target, the other half of the funds will go straight to the client for aftercare, stability, and to buy necessities. This is not a grant, this is not an "interest free loan" like some non-profit organizations offer. This is pure cash in the hands of someone who needs it the most. Mutual aid. your argument is that communism has no democracy because lenin said the state will wither away. that's like saying you abolish the fire department because there are no more burning houses. lenin is describing a process, a dialectical transformation of democracy from a tool of minority oppression to a tool of majority self-rule, and then finally to a habit of social life when there's no one left to oppress. you are quoting the finale of a symphony and pretending it's the entire composition, showing that either you haven't read State and Revolution, or you have and you're deliberately misrepresenting it. which one is it? and why?
