>There seems to be little notice in the media that Ukraine is on the verge of a catastrophe. Its electricity network is on the border of systemic failure. The moral standing of its government within the Ukrainian population is breaking down.
>While there has been lots of trouble with energy during the last winter the amount of the current disorder is on a different level.
>For months now the Russian military has systematically dismantled critical points in the Ukrainian network. Kiev, which once had several combined heat and power plants, can no longer generate any of its needed electricity. Its sole supplies are now coming from far away nuclear power stations and are reaching the capitol through a few major switching station.
>There are now no days left without severe power failures (machine translation):
<The power outage is currently worst in Kyiv and Dnipro. In the capital, subway trains were stopped today due to power surges.
<“This is the second instance of power supply problems in the metro in the last month, something that hasn’t happened since the war began. The grid simply can’t cope – there’s simply not enough power for all consumers. People turned on their kettles and the metro went dark,” says Yuriy Korolchuk, an analyst at the Institute for Strategic Studies.
<Energy market sources also report widespread problems at all of the capital’s combined heat and power plants (CHPs): Darnitska, CHP-5, and CHP-6, which were targeted by Russia. Several experts told us that generation at these plants has been halted.
<Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center, stated that all Kyiv thermal power plants, including the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant, are “effectively destroyed,” meaning the capital is now almost entirely dependent on electricity from the unified power grid. However, the Russians are targeting the substations supplying power to the Kyiv region. A similar situation is occurring in Dnipro, where the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant, the region’s largest power generation source, was significantly damaged.
>The situation is already dire and it is not even winter:
<With the onset of minimum negative temperatures, residential buildings in Ukraine will be without electricity for three to five days.
<This opinion was voiced by the head of the Union of Consumers of Public Utilities of Ukraine, Oleg Popenko, during a telethon broadcast.
<“The forecasts are the most pessimistic. [..] We won’t have power for hours, but for days. When temperatures drop to minus five degrees, consumption (of electricity – Ed .) will increase so much that power may only be on for half an hour or an hour,” the expert predicts.
>Amidst the coming cold critical infrastructure depending on electricity – transport, water and sewage – is likely to fail.
>Kiev is a central point in Ukraine’s electricity network. Several provinces depend on its network. When Kiev shuts down they fail too. Some have already experienced special emergency shutdowns (machine translation):
<Today, special emergency shutdown schedules (SES) were introduced in two regions of the country at once – Poltava and Sumy oblasts.
<Polypropylene and Sumyoblenergo reported this.
<“The SGAV or special SGAV is a set of measures aimed at quickly reducing the load on the power grid on a significant scale. These measures involve shutting down 35-110 kV lines, as well as transformers and busbar sections at 35-110 kV substations. They are implemented or cancelled by a special command from Ukrenergo. It is impossible to inform consumers about the duration of the outage when using SGAV or SGAV,” Sumyoblenergo noted.
<It’s worth noting that “regular” emergency shutdown schedules have long been in use in Ukraine (usually after hostile attacks on the power grid and significant damage to facilities). However, the SGAV is a last resort.
<Unlike “regular” emergency shutdowns, SGAVs involve the shutdown of critical infrastructure facilities, as well as consumers who use “their own” electricity imported from Europe.
<Moreover, the SGAV must be started very quickly – within three minutes after the command from the Ukrenergo dispatcher (during normal emergency shutdowns, 15 minutes are given for this).
>While last year’s attacks had reduced the generation capacity in Ukraine, its redundant network still allowed to switch capacity around.
>Now, after the shutdown of Ukraine’s metallurgical industries over the year, Ukraine has a theoretical excess of energy provided by its nuclear power stations. But its network has lost the ability to balance the electricity input with the natural peaks of consumption. In consequence the nuclear power stations had to lower their output. They were designed to deliver basic loads at a constant level. They can not be used to handle the ups and downs of demand.
>This year the campaign by the Russians to paralyze Ukraine by destroying its electricity network seems to work. The reason for the success is twofold.
>The number drones and missiles used in the air raids have multiplied. It is common now that one attack wave uses hundreds of long range drones and dozens of missiles. A year ago a hit by one of two Iskander missiles on a power stations was news worthy. Nowadays some 20 or so arrive every night. For lack of interceptors Ukraine’s air defense has been reduced to a few machine gun crews. While these still claim the unlikely success rate of 50% against drones they can do nothing against missiles. Another large scale attack against Ukraine’s electricity network is expected tonight.
>Meanwhile the public and media are kept busy with several scandals.
>Each Ukrainian military unit has a “pit” in which it illegally imprisons, tortures (and sometimes kills) renitent soldiers. Two days ago a protest against one these secret prisons near Kiev led to a scandal. While some prisoners were sent to a hospital the protesters were arrested and will likely themselves end up in jail.
>Another diversion erupted yesterday when the anti-corruption forces NABU arrested a high ranking officer of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU):
<Now we have a NABU investigation into the SBU for running 52 illegal call centers, facilitating drug trafficking, torture, kidnapping, abuse and counterfeiting in Ukraine and Europe.
<As a result of the NABU investigation the deputy head of the department for protecting national statehood of the SBU, Major General Sergei Duka, has been detained.
<Searches were also conducted at the office of the first deputy head of the Main Directorate “D” for Protecting National Statehood of the SBU, Alexander Kovalchuk, the head of the Main Directorate for Internal Security of the SBU, Colonel Anton Kravchuk, and unnamed police officers.
>While the frontline of the war of attrition in Ukraine sees little movement the state of Ukraine is falling apart. >>2948264what law are they breaking? why are you defending the cucktin state? ukrops can go fuck themselves but be serious
>>2948893Ukrainian Nationalism = imprisoning all communists + de-electrification
I'm back
What have I missed
>>2948367>on behalf of the proletariatThis is how I know you people are paid agents, no actual leftist could possibly defend this position honestly because it's factually wrong and it's not debatable.
>>2948367>Putin is managing on behalf of both the proletariat and bourgoeisie for national interestThere is not a single thing in existence that is good for both the proleteriat and the bourgeoise at the sam time aside from maybe the sun not exploding
No you guys are right the Russian proletariat benefited massively from the soviet union being ripped apart and they'd definitely reap a huge windfall by letting Yanquistan do it to them again.
>>2948975>letting Yanquistan do it to them againHow do you rip apart the Soviet Union again?
>>2948970This is vulgar Marxism.
National development is absolutely possible with a bourgeoisie, to deny this is to deny reality. Do you want to say that Western Europe didn't develop, benefiting both bourgeoisie and proletariat?
> At one time there were "Marxists" in our country who asserted that the railways left to us after the October Revolution were bourgeois railways, that it would be unseemly for us Marxists to use them, that they should be torn up and new, "proletarian" railways built. For this they were nicknamed "troglodytes". – Stalin, Marxism and the Problem of Linguistics >>2948850Not for the average citizen. people intending to re-do a crocus hall? most likely.
>>2948896>what law are they breakingthey asked for political prisoners to be freed and compared putin to the czar which is illegal and bad, adding to that the FSB glowing ziggers have been arresting elected KPRF officials recently cause they didn't rig the elections for United Russia enough, which is also illegal and therefore bad I'm sure
>>2948268>>2948305the deviation of the torture chambers talk is amazing.
>>2948893Another high ranking officer fell from grace:
>Vladimir Tsenov (picrel), First Deputy Head of the National Police’s Department of Strategic Investigations, has been detained by the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) in connection with the "Carthage" case.
>Within criminal circles, Tsenov is known by the alias "Price."
>According to investigators, Tsenov provided protection for fraudulent call centers.
>The organizers of the network paid for this protection on a monthly basis, transferring funds to cryptocurrency wallets. It seems that zelya wants to play the 'see we are attending corruption cases' that affect europe, because these calling centers are also targeting europe.
>>2948896>what law are they breaking? No blocking major streets, which is done through approvement of protests by the authorities. Navalny routinely failed to get approvals for the streets and squares he liked, he received replacement streets and squares permission, and still gathered at where he wanted. What is this, if not sacrificing own followers for grift?
>>2949136Anyone who participated in any protest or demonstration knows that governments and municipalities weaponize locations and always want you to put you in the least visible places which defeats the purpose of such action. There is no point to make a protest in a forest. And of course we get porky rulecuck arguments by rubots in the place called /leftypol/.
>>2949136>What is this, if not sacrificing own followers for grift?Sacrificing communists so you can glaze a far right fascoid state.
>>2949229Fiiiine, be it your way. Protesters are blameless, the state is intentionally abusing bourgeois law, yadda yadda.
What purpose does bringing dozens of flags of Ukrainian state serves when Russia's law stipulates that any political gathering can only have 5 flags total?
>>2949232And do fucking keep in mind that entities on Russian shit list willfully sign every their message with "this post was written by an enemy of the Russian state". Why don't they disregard this shit and just post without the humiliating signature? Why don't they violate bourgeois law this way, but are willing to violate it on the streets, when the people who get jailed for it are not the organizers?
>>2949231how many permits were issued in France and Spain recently?
>>2949235This is this, and that is that. Russian state offered a permit, and protesters chose a different place to protest at, while French and Spanish autorities refuse permits wholesale.
The main problem with Russians is that they will take the most retarded point and try to defend it in favor of Russian state. There is literally not a single point that can back off when it comes to Russian state interests. Maybe they get deduced something from their wages if they write a single anti-government comment that is not "they are not killing enough civilians, please bring general armageddon back, mr. Putin".
>>2949236It is not a protest if you do exactly everything what government tells you
>>2949238t. protest fetishist
>you can only protest where and when the government tells you to
That's not a protest bro
>>2949249Bolsheviks were nafoids financed by imperialist germany.

Do mods even care about retarded NAFO liberals and bots flooding not only this thread but the entire board with BS?
>>2949249Czar banned strikes and protests, btw. Unlike modern Russia
>>2949294>>2949249Furthermore, one of the punishments for striking workers was conscripting them forcefully and sending them to the frontlines ala modern Ukraine
>>2949295Russia already did it, they used political prisoners for the wagner meat waves, took 50 years to take bakhmut like this. So this war has half a dozen years in front of it, and with the labor shortages, the economy in the gutter, cucktinists freaking out and arresting kprf socdems we can expect more of this behavior, but who knows maybe your tax money will get the nazis elected in western europe who I'm sure will totally go against nato and save Russia
>>2949255>germany.name a german any german that funded bolsheviks
I cant get over how fucking sick this war is and people supporting it. Zionist jews are nothing compared to ziggers.
>>2949379on a scale of 0 to 10 how would you rate your trust in socialist revolution in russia just after they defeat the *current enemy* now?
>>2949393How do you rate the possibility of a socialist revolution if NATO/USA wins?
Offical DSA statement on Ukraine war :
>The Democratic Socialists of America condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and demands immediate diplomacy and de-escalation to resolve this crisis. We stand in solidarity with the working classes of Ukraine and Russia who will undoubtedly bear the brunt of this war, and with antiwar protestors in both countries and around the world who are calling for a diplomatic resolution.
The liberal retards of DSA have a more correct communist position on this war than ziggers. I'm honestly surprised, I never bothered to look up.
>This extreme and asymmetrical escalation is an illegal act under the United Nations Charter and severely threatens the livelihoods and well-being of working-class peoples in Ukraine, Russia, and across the region. We urge an immediate ceasefire and the total withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine.
This one is more libbed out but still directionally correct. Incredible. How do ziggers even sleep at night? Even liberals out-communist them.
>>2949418Ukraine has no working class. They have a lumpenproletariat class. Which provides labour-value for dronestriking children in the Sudan.
Russia's working class gets a more nationalized, less globalist economy.
How are libs out-communizing the Ziggers by protesting national liberation?
>>2949400a whole even 0, your turn
>>29494001971 Commune, happened when the prussians mogged france
1917 workers destroyed the russian empire that was loosing a war against germany
1919 spartacists rose up because the german empire got annihilated by the entente
so 100%, it is historically progressive to support nato
>>2949418>leftcom aligning with the DSAdamn, we went full circle. bordiga could be powering a whole city with all the spinning inside his coffin, if you attach both of his ends to a generator.
>>2949266thats what you read on leftypol now unironically
>>2949249nato proxies deserve the axe.
>In Kiev, authorities shut down call centers that defrauded 135 German nationals of 4.3 million euros.
>The scammers persuaded their victims to invest in cryptocurrency and other financial instruments.
