I have yet to hear a good takedown of this guy. He always cites sources, he always gives the Bolsheviks a fair shake in his analysis, and he seems sincerely more interested in studying and learning from the mistakes of the early USSR than many self described communists, who, if they bother read sources at all, only uncritically read primary sources form that era if they are written from the perspective of the central committee, rather than rank and file party members, or "losers" who were later purged. The few times have seen his videos posted here before I have seen very short bitter responses: "Anticommunist propaganda" But I was never able to get those anons to actually clarify what they meant by that, and it seemed to me that they didn't actually have any specific critiques, like "he is wrong about A, B, and C, because reasons X, Y, and Z." It seemed more like a prejudiced and kneejerk reaction, of "just don't watch this." basically treating it the same as if it was some fascist dreck. So what's the deal? Can anyone take a real shot at this guy? And I don't mean personal attacks or simply discouraging people from watching it all. Or surface-level reactions to titles and thumbnails. I mean why are his sources wrong, why is he wrong, why are his conclusions wrong. Inb4

nah this guy flies to russia, reads primary sources in the archives, translates them into english, cross references and interprets, this is actually some of the most scholarly and respectful work I've ever seen on the early USSR.
have you seen Finbol's series? Or are you expecting a /leftypol/ user to just refute these hour long videos in a comment?
