How do you dress? What are you wearing today? How should you dress, as a Marxist? Which trends are proletarian and which are bourgeois? <br/>Discuss.(On leftypol_archive board 4 now. Will be moved to alt_archive when built)

My typical daily attire or similar.<br/><br/>I look for durable and practical clothing made from natural fibres. Sometimes I make my own clothing but I only make/buy new things as I need, repairing when possible which it usually is. Lucky enough to have been taught to sew as a child. Recommend learning how to at least repair busted seams and holes, sew patches properly, etc. I avoid anything obviously branded unless I can remove it, including graphic prints of any kind. Shoes are the exception to my branding rule, and size 16E makes it harder to even try so I get what I can get. <br/><br/>I draw elements from people I have known and admired, in that way a lot of my clothing choices are purely aesthetic. The long coat and overalls combination I took from one of my earliest Marxist mentors. I put care into my appearance without concern for fashion trends or a conscious attempt to look one certain way. Avoiding more than I'm striving for.<br/><br/><a onclick="highlightReply('2232', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#2232">>>2232</a><br/>Yes. All current trends you'll see pretty much start from bourgeois fashion companies. I believe it's an open secret that fashion trends are often planned years in advance. Capitalist trends change frequently so as to be exploited. Spring fashion, summer fashion, fall fashion, winter fashion, back to spring fashion but it's different this year and you need all of it as it comes out. Trends from non-capitalist societies tend to be longer lived and are often more varied(because how much variation is there really in contemporary clothing?), evolving naturally over longer periods of time. No specific trends are inherently bourgeois or proletarian, aside from maybe clothes made for practicality and labour that haven't been incorporated into bourgeois trends. But then can they still be considered fashion?<br/><br/>I'll keep dreaming of the people's Yeezys.
Hey guys, fashion has a board now!<br/><br/><a href="

Reposting an important piece in regard to crap like pic related. <br/>The idea that capitalism in any way expect uniformity is deceitful. You are not rebelling against capitalism by being different, you can't rebel against consumerism by consuming. In fact the idea that if you want to rebel you should not wear a suit and instead you should get some dumb denim vest with a bunch of patches, is one propagated by capitalism in an effort to commodify revolutionary sentiment.<br/><a href="

I feel like don't fucking care-wave most of the time, I like my clothes but I'm very aware I'm not making much of an effort, I stand out a bit in the didn't really bother kind of way in bars and stuff because of it, I look super plain which annoys me a little sometimes <br/><br/>I'm thinking about getting some nicer clothes to combat this but at the same time I cringe everytime I get the urge to consoooom something new I don't really need, and I like having tons of pockets and high quality stuff like my coat, which is very functional and well made but isn't very fashionable or sexy, I have like 2 pairs of Jeans and a couple pairs of work trousers and maybe 10 t-shirts and a couple jumpers, I'm tight as fuck about buying fashion clothes precisely because most of the stuff seems really poorly made and fucntionally limited for what you pay, even though I have a ton of technical clothing for outdoorsy stuff, which is the only reason I own these very good boots and the Coats I own <br/><br/>I do mindlessly consoom second hand clothes off ebay though, but its hard finding stuff that both looks good and fits me and is worth getting, I really want an anorak but I can't find a good one for sale at non retarded prices and mostly I end up buying old workwear that doesn't fit me that I either return or pass off to my worky family members, who actually use it for its intended noncringe purpose <br/><br/>How do I get better at dressing?
<a onclick="highlightReply('14189', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#14189">>>14189</a><br/>I like it, I think most guys with long hair look beautiful, although liberal hipsters have been ruining it for me lately. But how do <em>you</em> feel about it? And most importantly, what look are you going for? Do you want to look like a hipster or a metalhead? That matters a lot too, long hair can look effeminate or masculine depending on what you do with it, the clothes you wear, and your facial hair. Of course, your personality may also have an influence on the kind of woman you attract.<br/><a onclick="highlightReply('14191', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#14191">>>14191</a><br/>Some girls like it, but it's apparently rare to see guys with long hair in many places, so I can't really say how popular it is among women. <a onclick="highlightReply('2221', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#2221">>>2221</a><br/><span class="quote">>How do you dress?</span><br/>My main style is all or mostly black with clothes that are a bit masculine. Like boot or straight cut jeans or cargo pants/shorts and combat boots. For the top I wear band t-shirts or a black long-sleeved blouse that looks a bit like a shirt, or, alternatively, a peach-colored shirt (the only one I have, sadly). And if it's cold I can wear my black coat. If I'm not wearing long sleeves I can put on my spiked bracelet. I used to be more enthusiastic about the metalhead look and wore a couple more items like a steel chain necklace, a black belt and a wallet chain, but not anymore. <span class="spoiler">I did get complimented back then when I was wearing my black cargo shorts at school, it was aesome</span><br/>I wish I could still wear my hair down without it being annoying, but nowadays I just wear it in a messy bun. I cut my hair really short once and it was great, but I'm growing it long again to sell it.<br/>So that's my favorite style, but I have other favorite outfits that are more feminine, although I'm rarely in the mood for them.<br/>But when I'm not feeling like dressing up I just wear the plainest t-shirt or blouse I can find and comfortable shorts, or jeans when I go out. A few months ago I also got used to wearing a red bandana all the time around my neck even when I'm at home. It also makes for a convenient face mask when I forget my actual mask.<br/><span class="quote">>What are you wearing today? </span><br/>A cheap orange printed t-shirt and someone's old PE shorts from primary school
<a onclick="highlightReply('15758', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#15758">>>15758</a><br/>I don't have a sewing machine either, I hand stitch everything. I don't use sewing patterns either, everything is freehand. Last shirt i made I basically sewed it onto my body, I would attach small bits of fabric together with sewing pins, making sure they contoured by body correctly by using my body as a mannequin. Then I would take the fabric off my body and properly sew then together with a sewing needle and thread. Unless you are really precise, it might achieve proper symmetry by doing shit in this manner, so I personally don’t even try. The only “technique” I really even know how to do is the whip stitch, so for me the barrier to entry was very low. Done this way, sewing becomes an incredibly cheap hobby, requiring only: Fabric, decent scissors, sewing pins, sewing needle, thread and time.

Like mousse, oil, wax, etc? Once you're done with puberty, your hair looses oil and becomes drier. Also, try getting a more expensive haircut at a proper barber shop. Ask the barber what he's doing so that you understand what the different techniques are and do. <br/><a onclick="highlightReply('15989', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#15989">>>15989</a><br/>I find the jewfro particularly attractive. If you want to pull off long hair, look into treating it well. Buying shit for it, etc. Maybe you need to brush it after a shower, maybe you need to leave it a little wet. It also depends on your other attire. A beautiful mane might look less appropriate for a punk style, and unruly hair usually doesn't look good with tight/formal fits. <br/><a onclick="highlightReply('15967', event);" href="/hobby/res/2221.html#15967">>>15967</a><br/><span class="quote">>I wish it was socially acceptable to dress "ridiculous".</span><br/>Same. >>560723A cardigan of course. You could also go with a light jean jacket if you're wearing denim. And as the picture shows, a light sport blazer also goes.
A common one where Im from with that fit is a down sweater vest.

>>560766>why they do itIt's literally all brands. Frankly this is why I value all those Chinese making replicas of high fashion clothing. When you're buying legit retail you most probably will gravitate towards the cheapest pieces or the most versatile ones but when they become more affordable you're left with a wider ranger of more interesting clothes.
Take away the brand and all that's left is pure aesthetics.

>>560815I unironically looked a t the style of Hasan Piker for inspiration to develop my style, but now I just like the proffesional, with (fake) rings, chains, proffesional jacket, rich kinda look. I feel a lot more comfortable walking around like this, but at communist meetings I kinda look out of place, compared to anarchists and young leftists their way of dressing ngl. But I like it, communists come in different styles I guess.
I call the style:
Deng Xiaoping Drip >>560823 (me)
>>560824Actually can relate. I go to thrift stores when I go to the states. Can't find cheap thrift where I live. That said, if you really dig, you can maybe repurpose clothes from older generations being sold. They are usually high quality and cheap. Weird styles, but sometimes worth the effort.
Do note that I go to huge thrift stores, browse for hours and might come out with 1 or 2 things, which I might regret buying later.
>>560843Get this stupid shit off my screen.
I hope you people ITT don't fall and pay overprice for this absolute trash "designer" "clothing". Literally just pass by some used clothing stores every once in a while and, for this look, go buy a bucket of paint, fill up a water bottle with it and put it in your ass as you squeeze your glutes. Voilà.
Id consider modifying and making clothes from scratch if I knew how to sew good and could figure out what aesthetic I want but my tastes are all over the place and my sewing skills are lacking. Really needs it's own topic for the skill part. Related note how do you even put together a look without looking ridiculous if you like so many different things ?
>>560875Wait. It's more than an aesthetic? News to me.
>>560881I get it. Im not sure id call my tastes wacky but I do like a lot of alternative styles and some things bordering avant garde. Putting it together is one thing but feeling comfortable wearing it when you arent an extrovert ready to deal with the attention it may give you is another.
>>560883>you can always dress with regular clothes plus one statement piece for more versatilitySure probably easier to put together that way for some things but others it may clash so depends.
>>560885>It's not like the thread is very active. >I'd love to see more posters talk about sewing and tailoring and stuff no matter how basic or if they're just learning.I suppose. It's just a really broad entailed topic of sewing and dying clothes. I have a sewing machine in my house but am just currently learning hand sewing practicing by sewing shut holes in my pockets and it's difficult to be consistent. Using some sort of measuring guide to help with spacing probably would help though which I dont know if it's a thing. I'm thinking easiest way to customize clothes is splattered bleaching (peroxide can work too) and tye dying. I am looking into natural dyes since normal dye is a petrolium product so it's bad for environment and your health. Problem with natural is not always as vivid and difficult to bind to the fabric. I used to tye dye as a kid and never thought of it since till I recently found some patterns I never knew were possible that is more fitting to my tastes.
>>560886Where did you hear that? I mean it's believable but it likely is limited to areas close where they are established not in every thrift shop. Inversely, you know those stores that cell defective brand clothes? Like Marshels, Ross…etc. Apparently some fashion companies intentionally make defects to sell at a lower price in those stores to have an alternative means of profit or something while keeping their normal quality clothes same price as before.
