Absolutely fuck rehab. Anyone who has ever been to rehab for drug addiction, an eating disorder, or any other thing society has deemed an "issue" would know rehab centers are really nothing more than low key jails. Your stay will be highly regimented with facility staff forcing you up at a certain time, forcing you to eat, forcing you to "get clean," and so on. It is psychologically traumatizing. You are not seen as human.
We understand how psych hospitals are simply prisons for neurodivergnt folks. Well rehab hospitals are no better in this regard. At all. Addiction and EDs are NOT things to be "cured" and any attempt to "cure" them is inherently tyrannical. If I want to pump my body full of opioids, or go days without eating, or eat too much to the point where society has labelled me as "obese" then so be it. I should be allowed to do whatever I want with my own body even if society decides my behaviors are a problem. We treat addicts and people with eating "disorders" as people who need to be fixed. I say, let them live out their lives. If they die, fine. Letting go and being death positive is the antidote to authoritarianism. I would rather let someone die than force them into a prison to "get better."
So again FUCK REHAB.
