>>2641610>I feel like the liberals of today are even weaker than the liberals of the 30s pre-WW2. To the point that today's liberals would have let Hitler completely take over Europe. What explains this phenomena? Too many treatsUnironically I think it’s the focus groups. Like the Bilderberg Group evidently came to the conclusion that WW2 and “Soviet totalitarianism” showed the problems with “democracy” and “the rabble” so a world ruled by technocrats who don’t believe in anything was the balm for them. Democrats especially went from these hayseeds and old ball-busting politicos who cut their teeth on corrupt local machines to dudes who intern at places called shit like “The Forward Institute”.
Like say what you will about LBJ, but he was a corrupt dick swinging mother fucker who did shit like spread rumors that his opponent fucked a pig because “I want to see the bastard deny it”.
It’s what unironically gave Biden some charm because it felt like he had more blood in him than the usual Democrat. If you ask him to do something he doesn’t want to, he’ll call you fat and say you should kill yourself. Ask Chuck Schumer to do anything and he’ll ignore you or shuffle away without answering, the best he’s got is lowering his glasses down the bridge of his nose and giving some lifeless speech about norms. Other democrats just sweat, fall back on repetitive soundbites, and get confused and scared when they’re asked anything their focus groups didn’t sufficiently prep them for.
With Republicans at least you sometimes get a local nut job who ran for senate after learning the health department wouldn’t let him cook burgers with gunpowder at his NRA themed sports bar. There’s blood there. Democrats are fucking lizard people. Trump is a grotesque avatar of Mammon but at least while he’s shoveling Big Macs in his mouth and sliding over Melania like a slug, there’s
something there. Raw animal appetite at least.
