this is a highly overstated thing sadly. the 1st international workingmens' association wrote a letter to lincoln congratulating him on re-election, emancipation, and the union's victory in the civil war. marx was one of the many signers of that letter. lincoln was shown the letter by one of his assistants, and instructed the assistant to reply. lincoln did not reply directly. lincoln was assassinated shortly after. marx and lincoln never personally exchanged letters, however, Marx did right opinion editorials for Horace Greeley's New York Tribune, and Abe Lincoln spoke fondly of Horace Greeley, and read the NY Tribune a lot, possibly encountering many of Marx's articles. Lincoln of course probably would not have agreed with Marx on surplus value, because in his 1863 SOTU speech, even though he says labor is "the superior of capital" he also says "capital has its rights". His opinion was that labor and capital have a mutual symbiosis rather than an irreconcilable hostility. Union and Confederate generals came together to crush the Great Strike of 1877.

In theory, but it goes back to the question of where power actually resides. Trump is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces and that theoretically comes with a lot of power, but if it comes to something absolutely batshit then the military is the only thing that can force the military to obey.

This was part of what caused Mark Milley to be grilled by Congress. When Jan 6th happened he disobeyed tons of orders about who the military can speak to and called up his Chinese counterpart to tell them under no circumstances is America going to have a coup or use this as a surprise attack on China.

Apparently after the call he was absolutely furious and said something akin to “What does he think he’s doing? You can’t do this without the military, we’re the ones with the guns!”

It’s important to remember Trump is a very stupid, vain man. He’s insulted the military repeatedly and literally told Generals to their faces “why can’t you be more like Hitler’s generals?”

The reason the prices of everything are rapidly rising. Gas, medicine, food, essentials, in an economy that's already cratering with mass unemployment and mass alienation, is so that Israel can act with impunity as it invades Lebanon. American forces bomb the strait, bomb Iran, bomb trade vessels, to maintain Israel's ability to commit genocide.

How would you react if American-Israeli Forces rolled into your town, like footage here shows them rolling into Aitaroun, Lebanon? Maintaining Israeli expansion is why the US Air Force dropped a bomb on an Iranian Elementary School, killing 175 children, something Bill Maher said was "the cost of emancipation".

Imagine what the money being spent to destroy Lebanon, to bomb school girls, to commit genocide, could do if it was spent on our communities? The capitalist worships death at the expense of our lives and the lives of those abroad. They reap our futures as a loan to pay for the investments on bombs that reap futures elsewhere.
