Clearly the Dem leadership is pretty rattled about Hasan and the DSA in general, but given the structure of the party I think they'll be successful in purging the nascent social democratic wing. Clearly they would rather keep losing to the GOP than allow these people to make even the mildest inroads into the upper echelons. Hopefully that gives the DSA the wake up call they need to break with the Democrats entirely. It will still be riddled with liberalism and revisionism, but at the very least it could form a nexus from which a real worker's and eventual communist movement could emerge, much as the SPD eventually gave birth to the KPD.

Both the KPD and the Bolsheviks emerged from earlier social democratic movements with reformist, revisionist, and social-imperialist tendencies. There's no reason to think that American communism won't follow a similar trajectory. I get you like to LARP like it's the 1930s, but the fact is we aren't living in the era of a mature communist movement and imminent revolution. We're starting basically from square one. Communism won't spring forth fully formed, but will come about from an arduous process of evolution, trial and error from less developed and correct movements.

A track plan is a designated route for entering and leaving the patrol base. The two main purposes are to minimize the visibility of foot traffic from the air, and so that your sentries know from what direction to expect friendlies to enter and leave the base. Congrats, you got shot by your own buddies because you went to take a piss at night and didn't follow a track plan when coming back. Seriously man, do you think an infantry course is just lessons on how to brutalized civilians and not how to actually fight?
